Asiana Airlines, South Korea's second-largest carrier, said on May 28 that it had stopped selling some emergency seats on its A321-200 passenger aircraft following a recent incident in which a passenger opened the door of the aircraft just before landing.

According to the statement, starting from May 28, Asiana Airlines will temporarily suspend the sale of seat 26A of 11 A321-200s with a capacity of 174 passengers, and seat 31A of three A321-200s with a capacity of 195 passengers.

The incident occurred on an Airbus A321-200 aircraft heading to Daegu, 237 km southeast of Seoul, from Jeju Island on May 26. None of the 194 people on board were ejected or injured in the incident, but 12 passengers were reported to have suffered breathing difficulties and some were taken to hospital.

Under the aviation law, passengers who attempt to manipulate aircraft doors, emergency exits or equipment without permission could face up to 10 years in prison.
