Speaking at the event to announce initiatives to promote AI startups and popularize AI knowledge to the community on the morning of June 18 in Hanoi , Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized: “The Party and Government of Vietnam identify Science and Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation as the shortest path, a vital factor for Vietnam to realize its aspiration for rapid, sustainable, inclusive and self-reliant development to successfully achieve the country's two 100-year goals.

Science, Technology and Innovation are not only the driving force for economic growth, but also the inevitable path to building a prosperous Vietnam, increasing labor productivity, national competitiveness, protecting the environment, responding to climate change, and improving the quality of people's lives."

Promoting Vietnamese startup initiatives

The "Building the AI Future" 2025 program introduces two key initiatives designed to support Vietnam's next generation of AI startups.

Accordingly, Google for Startups AI Bootcamp 2025 is a 3-day training program in Ho Chi Minh City for 100 startups (200 developers), helping developers master how to apply Google's latest AI features.

Here, developers have the opportunity to consult and learn directly from Google experts and engineers on many important topics such as: GenAI solution ideation and implementation, rapid prototyping, MVP (minimum viable product) development, skills to prepare and complete fundraising project content,...

The Google for Startups AI Solutions Lab 2025 program is a 4-day hackathon competition at the Da Nang Center for Research and Training in Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence (DSAC) with the participation of 50 startups, aiming to build GenAI solutions to solve specific local challenges.

Within the framework of the program, teams will be supported by DSAC with free workspace for six months. In particular, the 10 best teams will have the opportunity to introduce their products to representatives from the public and private sectors at Google Vietnam's biggest AI event of the year, scheduled to take place in September this year.

Enabling the Workforce for the AI Future

With the vision of “Creating Talent”, the collaboration between Google and NIC is strategically focusing on addressing the urgent need to upskill the workforce, helping workers be ready for the rapidly evolving AI era.

Mr. Vu Quoc Huy - Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC) - said: “Within the framework of strategic cooperation between the National Innovation Center (NIC) and Google, the two sides have been implementing a number of programs to develop digital human resources and promote the innovation and startup ecosystem in Vietnam, revolving around 3 pillars of cooperation: Developing digital talent (Google Career Certificates), Supporting startups (Google for Startups) and Google for Developers Program (Google for Developers).”

Mr. Marc Woo - Managing Director of Google Vietnam - shared: “The opportunity to develop an AI-led economy in Vietnam is huge. Artificial intelligence is forecast to bring economic benefits of up to 1.89 quadrillion VND (equivalent to 79.3 billion USD) by 2030, equivalent to nearly 12% of Vietnam's GDP. Vietnam is not only keeping up with the global AI trend but is also leading the way, with the number of AI startups increasing more than 4.5 times since 2021.”
