More than 1,000 people attend Vietnam Young Entrepreneurs Pickleball Tournament

Taking place in Quang Ninh from September 19 to 21 at Bai Chay, Quang Ninh, organized by Tien Phong Newspaper, the national pickleball tournament for young Vietnamese entrepreneurs is not only a sporting event, but also a journey of inspiration, connection and pioneering spirit of the Vietnamese business community. At the press conference of the first Vietnamese Young Entrepreneurs Pickleball Tournament - 2025 held on the afternoon of August 18, athlete Tran Ngoc Trieu (nicknamed Trieu Badminton), one of the most prominent faces in the Vietnamese pickleball community, shared his story about switching from badminton to pickleball.

"I used to play amateur badminton and had some achievements. There were people who teased me that amateur tournaments should... ban Ngoc Trieu from competing. Then, I was inspired by Tran Hung Phong (nickname Phong Coca), also a member of the badminton club, so I tried switching to pickleball. When I first switched, we encountered many difficulties because we were used to badminton and were very afraid of bouncing balls," said player Ngoc Trieu on her first day playing pickleball.

Besides Ngoc Trieu, some famous athletes such as Tran Huyen Trang (Southeast Asian Open women's doubles champion), Nguyen Anh Thang (nickname Anh Chu) also shared about their journey to pickleball.

According to athlete Anh Thang, pickleball is developing strongly in Vietnam thanks to its advantages of being easy to play, easy to access, and being able to compete indoors and outdoors to combine with tourism development. However, until Vietnamese pickleball becomes professional, standardized and reaches further in the international arena, there is still a long way to go.
