Strong change in awareness and action on occupational safety.
If in the past, safety work sometimes stopped at the level of compliance with regulations, today, it has become an inseparable part of all activities, a culture cultivated by the workers themselves. At the 2025 Occupational Safety and Health Workshop, the General Director of Da Nang Port assigned the Quality Supervision - Occupational Safety and Health Department to operate the occupational safety and health network. The leadership of Da Nang Port also determined that, to achieve the goal of "Zero accidents", it is impossible to rely only on specialized departments but requires the participation of all officers and employees. And the occupational safety and health network is the nucleus to spread that spirit.
Food Safety Network: “Eyes and ears” and bridge right at the scene
Based on the instructions of the Port's leaders, the Quality Control - Labor Safety Department has deployed many tasks to the labor safety network. Focusing on propaganda, guidance, and reminders for workers in Teams, Groups, and production departments to strictly comply with regulations on labor safety and hygiene, and to preserve and fully use personal protective equipment in accordance with regulations.
The Danang Port Safety and Health Network is built from the direct workers in the teams and workshops. They are crane operators, container lashing workers, field dispatchers... who have the deepest understanding of the work and potential risks. With more than 40 Safety Officers spread across all departments, this network performs three core roles:
Supervision and supervision : The Quality Control Department - Labor Safety supervises in general, and the Safety and Health Department is the one who directly reminds colleagues to comply with safety procedures and use personal protective equipment correctly and adequately. The Safety and Health Department regularly reminds and checks the safety status of machinery, vehicles, equipment, construction tools, electrical systems, etc. to ensure that everything is safe before starting work. Strengthen supervision and promptly detect incidents that arise and endanger workers. Report promptly to the Head of Department for timely handling.
Two-way communication bridge : This is the most effective communication channel between workers and the Quality Control Department - Labor Safety as well as the Board of Directors. The labor safety officers collect difficulties, problems, and suggestions for improving working conditions from workers to report to superiors. In return, they are also the ones who directly disseminate new labor safety regulations and policies to each worker in the most understandable and familiar way.
On-site training and propaganda : Instead of dry theoretical lessons, the Safety and Health Department regularly organizes quick discussions for the workers right before the shift, reviewing important safety rules and analyzing specific risks of the day's work. They are the ones who "hold hands and show", instructing new workers on the specific safety culture of the Port. Members of the network have fully performed their job responsibilities when starting the shift, during the shift and after the shift. Increasingly proposing risks and early warnings that can lead to occupational safety loss, contributing to reducing occupational accidents in the unit. Awareness in complying with occupational safety regulations is enhanced, encouraging behaviors to predict risks, being responsible for oneself and colleagues.
The effectiveness of the food safety network is not just subjective but is demonstrated through concrete results.
Through the network's activities, hundreds of recommendations and suggestions for improvement have been recorded and applied. Many valuable initiatives have been born from the concerns of ATSSV and colleagues, such as improving the safety warning system on gantry cranes, optimizing the container delivery process to minimize unnecessary travel, or equipping additional specialized protective equipment suitable for each position... These improvements not only help minimize work accidents and occupational diseases but also contribute to increasing productivity and improving the overall operational efficiency of the entire Port.
For the safety and health network to operate effectively, it is indispensable to have the attention and strong commitment from the Board of Directors. Da Nang Port regularly organizes training courses to improve skills and expertise for the safety and health team. In addition, the Port also invests heavily in improving working conditions, measuring and checking the working environment, fully equipping standard personal protective equipment, ensuring the health of workers.
It can be affirmed that the safety and health network has been, is and will continue to be a solid pillar in ensuring safety at Da Nang Port. By empowering and promoting the strength of its employees, the Port not only builds a safe and professional working environment but also affirms its sustainable development strategy, taking people as the center, worthy of being the leading modern and safe seaport in Vietnam and the region.
