According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, IL-14 aircraft with registration number VN-C482 is the first IL-14 aircraft of the 919th Transport Air Force Regiment (the predecessor of today's 919th Flight Group).
This is one of five aircraft provided by the former Soviet Union Government to Vietnam in early 1957 and officially put into operation in 1958.
Among them, VN-C482 has special significance as it was given by the former Soviet Union Government to President Ho Chi Minh , and used to serve special flights carrying Uncle Ho and Party and State leaders during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
IL-14 aircraft is displayed in the "Aspiration for the Sky" section of the Exhibition.
The IL-14 aircraft has a fuselage length of 22.31m, wingspan of 31.7m; 2 turboprop engines; maximum speed of 415 km/h; maximum altitude of 6,500m; maximum flight range of 1,700km; capacity of 26-36 people.
Not equipped with radar or landing aids, controlling the IL-14 depends entirely on the pilot's skill and courage, which further affirms the excellent ability and bravery of the IL-14 Flight Team of Regiment 919 during the fierce years of the war to defend the Fatherland.
IL-14 aircraft with registration number VN-C482 also impresses with its special interior designed specifically for serving private flights, including: a 1.2m bed, a desk and 2 seats, 4 rear row seats, a toilet and sink at the rear of the aircraft.
Uncle Ho took a photo with the IL-14 flight crew after a visit and work in China, just returning to Gia Lam airport in 1962 (Photo: Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam).
During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the IL-14 squadron of the 919th Transport Air Force Regiment, at times numbering up to 13 aircraft, carried out many passenger and cargo flights, contributing to the economic recovery of the North; served international missions; trained flights, military transport flights, etc.
The IL-14 fleet completed its historic mission and stopped flying in 1981.
The IL-14 aircraft with registration number VN-C482 is solemnly displayed at the Aviation Museum, not only a heroic testament to a historical period but also a vivid symbol of the spirit of independence, self-reliance and self-reliance of the Vietnamese aviation industry.
At the National Achievement Exhibition to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day, in addition to the IL-14, the Vietnam Civil Aviation Industry also brought to the Exhibition the A320 aircraft from the Training Center of the Aviation Technical Services Joint Stock Company (AESC). This is an aircraft for training purposes. The public will have the opportunity to experience excellent services with applications such as: buying airline tickets, serving in the waiting room and trying to sit on the A320 aircraft; performing 3D mapping projections on the fuselage; experiencing the cockpit....
In particular, at the A320 aircraft display area, the public has the opportunity to directly experience escape skills with the professional team of the Vietnam Aviation Industry.
In addition, at the "Aspiration for the Sky" Zone, Vietnam Helicopter Corporation (VNH) will display helicopters for search and rescue flights. Vietnam Airlines Corporation (Vietnam Airlines) brings to the "Aspiration for the Sky" section an Airbus A-350 aircraft engine model. This is the first generation of Airbus aircraft in the world to use carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer for the design of both the fuselage and wings. This type of aircraft is considered the most environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient today thanks to the new XWB engine technology from the Rolls Royce supercar company. This helps airlines save on operating costs.
In addition, visitors will be able to admire models, sand tables, experience areas, interactive screens, 3D videos of other aviation units and businesses such as: VietjetAir, Viettravel Airlines, BambooAirways, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), Flying Legend Company, Vietnam Space Center... which are elaborately implemented, combining traditional elements and modern technology, creating an intuitive and attractive experience space to help visitors learn more about the history, achievements and vision of Vietnam's civil aviation industry.
Bringing typical aircraft, symbolizing the past, present and future to display at the Exhibition not only has the meaning of introducing the typical achievements of the Vietnamese aviation industry, but also contributes to vividly recreating the development path and the aspiration to reach high and far of Vietnam Aviation, true to the name "Aspiration for the sky"./.
