In recent years, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Health Department has implemented many synchronous solutions to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, gradually building a modern health system. In addition to continuing to develop high-quality human resources and successfully deploying many advanced techniques, medical facilities are promoting digital transformation and building smart hospitals to improve the quality of health care for the people.

Widely distributed health system

Specialist Doctor II Le Van Khoa - Director of the Department of Health said that in recent years, the health system in the province has been arranged and distributed widely, creating favorable conditions for people to access health services. In addition to the existing health facilities, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the province will put into operation 2 new hospitals, namely Oncology Hospital and Yersin Nha Trang General Hospital. At the same time, the following projects have been and are being implemented: Expanding Ninh Hoa Regional General Hospital; Center for Disease Control; Ninh Hoa Medical Center and Van Ninh Medical Center; Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation Hospital; investing in purchasing medical equipment and building a new High-Tech Center at Ninh Thuan General Hospital; renovating, upgrading, expanding facilities and supplementing equipment of Ninh Thuan Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital... Notably, at the 17th Session, the 7th Provincial People's Council passed and issued a Resolution on approving the investment policy of the Project to build Khanh Hoa General Hospital into a South Central Coastal Regional Hospital with a scale of 1,500 beds, including 500 high-tech specialized beds, with a total investment of 4,450 billion VND from the provincial budget.

Synchronously deploy solutions

To improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, Khanh Hoa province has identified improving the quality of medical human resources as both an urgent and strategic task. In the period of 2021 - 2025, the province has many mechanisms and policies to support training and attracting high-quality human resources in the medical sector. Specifically, Resolution No. 04 of the Provincial People's Council on the Human Resources Development Program of Khanh Hoa province for the period of 2021 - 2025; Resolution No. 11 on Regulations on the regime of supporting training, fostering cadres, civil servants, public employees and attracting talents in the province. Notably, at the end of June 2025, at the 18th Session, the 7th Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council passed a Resolution regulating the regime of supporting training of medical human resources for Khanh Hoa General Hospital to become a regional hospital in the South Central Coast region for the period of 2026 - 2030, with a total cost of about 122 billion VND. This fund will be used for short-term domestic training for staff, doctors, nurses... The goal is to improve professional qualifications, update modern medical techniques, and prepare for the operation phase of the new hospital.

With the province's specific policies, the training and development of high-quality medical human resources have initially achieved positive results. To date, more than 50% of provincial doctors have a level I specialist degree or equivalent or higher. Khanh Hoa General Hospital has more than 68% of department heads and deputy department heads with a level II specialist degree, doctorate or higher. Along with that, the provincial health sector has deployed information technology applications in all medical examination and treatment activities, insurance payments; built a remote medical examination and treatment system. Implementing smart hospitals, 2 hospitals have deployed electronic health records; 10 smart medical kiosks have been put into operation at a number of hospitals; 100% of medical examination and treatment facilities have been equipped with non-cash payment methods (bank transfer, static QR code, card swiping machine) at the fee collection department...

Continue to improve quality

With the synchronous implementation of solutions, the quality of medical examination and treatment has been gradually improved. Medical facilities have successfully received and deployed many new and advanced techniques to treat diseases such as: Congenital malformations, childhood fractures, thoracic deformities, congenital heart interventions; surgical trauma techniques; percutaneous biliary lithotripsy techniques, diseases related to the liver and gallbladder; techniques for complete cleft palate, cleft lip, oral malformations; electrophysiological cutting and burning... Thereby, people have access to many upper-level treatment techniques; many patients have been saved in time, reducing the rate of referrals. Every year, the provincial health sector has achieved and exceeded many important targets. Currently, the number of hospital beds is 36.4 beds/10,000 people; the number of doctors is 12 doctors/10,000 people; the rate of population participating in health insurance is 95.8%; The rate of medical stations with doctors working reached 100%; the rate of children under 5 years old with malnutrition and underweight reached 8.7%... In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, medical facilities in the province examined more than 1.8 million people; treated more than 167,900 inpatients (an increase of 11% over the same period); performed more than 28,710 surgeries. At the same time, the whole sector has effectively implemented national target programs on health; expanded immunization; prevention and control of epidemics, HIV, tuberculosis, leprosy, mental illness...

Recently, at the workshop "Special policy mechanism to attract human resources to meet the requirements of developing high-quality healthcare and towards a smart healthcare system - Lessons learned from the world and Vietnam" organized by the Provincial People's Council, comrade Pham Thi Xuan Trang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested departments and branches to prioritize allocating investment capital to develop the healthcare network; advise on the issuance of a plan to implement the Healthcare Network Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 in Khanh Hoa province, focusing on ensuring the progress of investment in construction and completion of Khanh Hoa General Hospital to become a hospital in the South Central Coast region; consolidate and improve the capacity of grassroots healthcare. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Pham Thi Xuan Trang directed the health sector to focus on synchronously deploying the electronic medical record system, digital prescriptions and personal health records connected to the national platform; applying AI in diagnosis, hospital management and disease forecasting; At the same time, develop remote medical examination and treatment services and smart medical applications to serve people...
