17 awards presented at the 6th Youth Photography Festival 2025

On August 18, in Hanoi, the opening ceremony of the exhibition and award ceremony of the 6th Young Photography Festival 2025 was held by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong attended and delivered the opening speech at the event.

The Youth Photography Festival is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and related units every two years from 2025.

After 5 successful events in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and 2023, the Young Photography Festival has created a useful and attractive "playground" suitable for the interests and needs of young photographers to create and publish works; receiving the support and participation of many young photographers across the country.

This is an opportunity for young photography enthusiasts across the country to exchange, learn, and introduce their achievements; at the same time, it is a bridge to fuel passion and creativity; encourage the interest, connection, and participation of young people in the art of photography in particular and social issues in general; thereby, gathering, developing, and supplementing the next generation for the Vietnamese photography force.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said: Photography is a special art form, both a tool to capture moments and a voice of the times. With the power of images, photography helps us connect the past - present - future, contributing to promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to the world. In the context of digital transformation and the spread of technology, young people have more opportunities to express their bravery, personality and creativity through photography.

After 10 years of establishment and development, the Young Photography Festival has become a prestigious and professional "art playground", attracting a large number of young photography enthusiasts from all over the country. This year, the 6th Festival continues to make its mark with thousands of entries, reflecting diverse perspectives on the country and people of Vietnam in the period of innovation, integration and development. These are vivid evidences of the maturity of a generation of young artists with talent, responsibility and enthusiasm.

According to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, our Party and State always care about, encourage and create conditions for the young generation to develop comprehensively, promote creativity, and accompany the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. In particular, photography is not only an art but also an effective tool in propaganda work, promoting the national image, contributing to preserving and spreading Vietnamese cultural values.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to closely coordinate with the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, agencies and organizations to create a favorable environment, encourage young people to develop their talents, nurture their passion for art, and contribute to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity as in the spirit of Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW and Conclusion No. 156-KL/TW of the Politburo on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development.

"I believe that, with their talent, intelligence and constant creativity, the young generation of Vietnamese photographers will continue to reap many successes, actively contributing to the development of the country's photography art, bringing the image of Vietnam closer to international friends" - Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized.

This year, the 6th Youth Photography Festival 2025 received 2,009 works, of which, the realistic photography category: 1,804 works; the conceptual photography category: 205 works by 221 authors from 29 provinces and cities nationwide sent to participate.

Through the selection rounds, the Organizing Committee selected 124 works by 73 authors to display at the Exhibition (Realistic photography category: 110 works; Conceptual photography category: 14 works. Of which, 17 best works were selected to be awarded, including: 13 awards for realistic photography category: 01 gold medal, 02 silver medals, 04 bronze medals and 06 consolation prizes; 04 awards for conceptual photography category: 01 gold medal, 01 silver medal, 01 bronze medal and 01 consolation prize.

According to the Jury, the works displayed and awarded at the 6th Youth Photography Festival in 2025 have vividly, intimately and authentically reflected the beauty of the people, culture and landscape of the country; at the same time, expressed the thoughts, opinions and ideas of young photographers on issues and events of contemporary life. Thereby revealing the talent, passion and courage of young people.

The event attracted a large audience.

The award-winning works and those participating in the 6th Youth Photography Festival in 2025 will be displayed until September 5 at the special national relic of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam../.
