This afternoon (July 4), the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores and admission scores for public grade 10 in 2025.
A year earlier, in 2024, the benchmark scores for grade 10 public schools in Hanoi decreased sharply compared to 2023.
structured, the 2023 batch of candidates needs 44.5 points, or 8.9 points/subject, to pass the Chu Van An High School entrance exam. However, in 2024, 8.5 points/subject is required.
The highest benchmark score in 2024 is 42.5 points, belonging to 3 schools: Chu Van An, Yen Hoa and Le Quy Don - Ha Dong.
To get into top schools in the center of Hanoi such as Thang Long, Phan Dinh Phung, Kim Lien and Viet Duc, candidates need to achieve an average score per subject of 8.45 - 8.35 - 8.35 - 8.25 respectively.
8.25 points/subject is also the entrance standard of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai and Nhan Chinh schools.

The list of top high schools in Hanoi also includes Nguyen Gia Thieu, Xuan Dinh, Cau Giay, and Tran Phu. The lowest standard score of this group is 7.9 points/subject.
Among 117 public schools in Hanoi, 12 schools have a benchmark score of 8 points/subject or higher; 38 schools have a benchmark score of 7 to under 8 points/subject; 27 schools have a benchmark score of 6 to under 7 points/subject, 28 schools have a benchmark score of 5 to under 6 points/subject, and 12 schools have a benchmark score of less than 5 points/subject.
Eleven out of 12 schools in the lowest benchmark group in Hanoi are in the suburbs. Only Doan Ket School (Hai Ba Trung) is located in the inner city, and its benchmark score has suddenly dropped due to the number of candidates being less than the target.

Ms. Van Thuy Duong, Vice Principal of Luong The Vinh High School, Hanoi, commented that based on the scores that students compared the answers and reported to teachers, the predicted standard score to enter "top" schools this year is about 25.5-26 points, or about 8.5-8.66 points/subject.
However, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tung, Principal of Lomonosov My Dinh High School, said that this year Hanoi will still maintain the same standard score as in previous years.
“With the level of differentiation of the exam questions this year and the new scoring method, I think the top schools will keep the same average standard score as every year.
At lower-ranking schools, because Hanoi's quota increased by 5,000, in my opinion, the standard score will be a bit lower," said Mr. Tung.
