What does Ho Chi Minh City Banking University say about the last-minute change in admission conditions?

(NLDO) - Many candidates were upset that they had enough points to pass the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education but still failed the university entrance exam.

On the evening of August 25, on forums for students, many parents and candidates said they had missed the opportunity to enter the law and economic law majors of the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City.

Many candidates unexpectedly failed their wishes even though their exam scores were higher than the standard score.

Below the congratulatory post on the Ho Chi Minh City Banking University’s fanpage for new students, Ms. NVH said that her daughter had applied for the law and economic law majors at the school. Although she had enough points to be admitted to the school (block C00), this candidate failed her application. Ms. H has sent a complaint to the school, requesting an official and satisfactory response.

HV, a candidate, said he was very disappointed when Ho Chi Minh City Banking University changed its admission plan at the last minute. Many candidates were "caught off guard".

According to HV, the initial admission plan clearly stated that "admission combinations with math and literature, or math or literature must achieve a minimum of 6 points (on a scale of 10, with other methods, math and literature scores are converted accordingly)".

However, on August 24, the admission plan was suddenly adjusted to: "For the majors of law, economic law, economic law (partial English), the minimum total admission score is 18 (on a scale of 30). Candidates must achieve a minimum of 6 points in math and literature (on a scale of 10, with other methods, math and literature scores are converted accordingly)". Thus, candidates applying for admission using block C00, even though their total score is high but their math score is not 6 points or higher, will still fail their application.

Discussing this issue on the morning of August 26, a representative of Ho Chi Minh City Banking University said that they had received feedback from parents and candidates. The school had discussed with relevant parties to find a solution.

"The school will ensure the best interests of candidates" - representative of Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City affirmed.

In 2025, the Law and Economic Law Department of Ho Chi Minh City Banking University will recruit 5 groups, including A00, A01, D00, D14 and C00. Of which, only group D00 has both math and literature.

Previously, Ho Chi Minh City Banking University announced the common converted standard scores for all methods on a 30-point scale, ranging from 18 - 23.6 points (depending on the major).
