Complete the goal

Tay Ninh Province (old) and Long An Province (old) always determined that building and repairing houses of gratitude and Great Solidarity for families and people facing housing difficulties is not only a responsibility but also an order from the heart. Accordingly, the entire political system and all classes of people have shared the responsibility. Vice Chairwoman of Vinh Hung Commune People's Committee Nguyen Thi Cam Huyen said: "In the process of building and repairing gratitude houses and Great Unity houses for families facing housing difficulties, the commune regularly sends officials to inspect and supervise to promptly resolve difficulties. For single-parent, sick families without many counterpart funds, the commune mobilizes union members, youth, militia and armed forces stationed in the area to support working days to transport construction materials, participate in house construction to help families reduce labor costs. As a result, before April 30, 2025, the commune completed the repair of 6 gratitude houses for families; built 14 Great Unity houses for the poor and those facing housing difficulties".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi (left cover, residing in Vinh Hung commune) has a spacious house to "settle down and make a living"

For over 20 years, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi (living in Vinh Hung commune) has borrowed land from an acquaintance to temporarily build a hut to live in. Her dream is to have her own house. Then, she saved up for a long time to have enough money to buy a small piece of land in an alley but did not have money to build a house. Sharing Ms. Chi's situation, the commune supported her to build a Great Unity house with a budget of 80 million VND. Ms. Chi confided: "The house is far from the main road, the vehicles carrying materials cannot enter, so the labor cost doubled. Afraid that I would not have enough money to build a house, I intended to refuse, but the commune officials encouraged and supported me, and from then on the house was completed. On the day the house was handed over, the commune and neighbors also gave me many items such as a fan, rice cooker, table, chair, etc. It was this kind support that helped me no longer feel inferior about my family's situation, on the contrary, I had more confidence and motivation to rise up from poverty and stabilize my life."

With a sense of responsibility and sharing, both Long An (old) and Tay Ninh (old) provinces have had many creative ways to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for families and the poor who are facing housing difficulties, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people. The highlight of Tay Ninh (old) province is the creativity in increasing the area of Dai Doan Ket houses from 32m² (according to regulations) to 40m², bringing more spacious living space to households.

In a short time, on April 30, 2025, Tay Ninh province (old) issued a press release on completing the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for 2 projects to repair and build houses for poor households, near-poor households according to Central standards and poor households according to provincial standards and the project to build and repair houses for people with revolutionary contributions in Tay Ninh province. Accordingly, Tay Ninh (old) completed the construction of 172 gratitude houses (56 newly built, 116 repaired); completed 594 Great Unity houses for the poor (464 newly built, 130 repaired);... Long An (old) completed the construction of 330 Great Unity houses (310 newly built, 20 repaired) for the poor with a total cost of more than 25.6 billion VND; completed 328 gratitude houses for families facing housing difficulties. In addition to the province's movement, the districts, the old Kien Tuong town and the old Tan An city have mobilized to build and repair 59 gratitude houses, of which 29 were newly built and 30 were repaired, with a total amount of nearly 3.9 billion VND.

The success of the program of building and repairing charity houses; eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is not only about the number of houses built but more importantly, it is about the spread of good things and the increasingly strong trust of the people in the leadership of the Party. The joy is not only for the people who receive the house support but also the joy of the entire political system and all classes of people.

Shared joy

The new house of Mr. Le Van Hoa (residing in Nhon Ninh commune) - son of martyr Le Van Sang, is spacious and airy.

In 2000, the family of Mr. Le Van Hoa (residing in Nhon Ninh commune) - the son of martyr Le Van Sang, was supported with 18 million VND to build a gratitude house, with an area of 32 square meters, tiled floor, and corrugated iron roof. Over time, the house deteriorated, the walls were water-permeable, and the corrugated iron roof was damaged. Meanwhile, the family only had income from 1 hectare of rice land, so the intention of repairing the house was not realized. At the end of 2024, he was supported with 50 million VND to repair the gratitude house. This amount of money is not large for many people, even just enough to pay for the workers' wages, but for Mr. Hoa, this is a source of capital, a gratitude from today's generation for the GDCS, from which he has more motivation to complete the house. Mr. Hoa shared: “Many times my family also intended to renovate the house but we saved up for a long time but still did not have enough money. With the support of 50 million VND and the savings, I was able to renovate the old house with an area of nearly 75 square meters. Thanks to that, my family has a place to worship martyrs and a more spacious and comfortable living space.”

Supported with 100 million VND to build a house of gratitude, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chi (left cover, residing in Binh Hiep commune) has a spacious house to worship the Vietnamese Heroic Mother and 3 martyrs.

Similar to Mr. Hoa, Ms. Nguyen Thi Chi (residing in Binh Hiep commune) was supported with 100 million VND to build a house of gratitude to worship Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi Tot and 3 martyrs. Ms. Chi emotionally said: “In 2000, my family was supported to build a house of gratitude. Over time, the house deteriorated and was damaged by termites. Thanks to the support of the commune, in 2024, my family will be able to build a new house, with a more solemn place to worship martyrs.”

With support to build a Great Unity house and breeding cows, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (residing in Binh Hiep commune) voluntarily wrote a request to escape from near-poverty, giving up preferential policies of the Party and State to those in more difficult circumstances.

For the poor and families facing housing difficulties, support for house construction and repair is not only of material value but also shows the sharing of all levels and sectors. This is a way to add strength and will for families to strive to improve their lives. Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (residing in Binh Hiep commune) confided: “My family has been a near-poor household for more than 10 years and has received many preferential policies from the Party and State for the poor such as support for breeding cows, health insurance cards, electricity bills, etc. In particular, in 2024, my family was also supported with 80 million VND to build a Great Unity house. Having received so much help from all levels and sectors, my family voluntarily wrote an application to escape near-poverty to give this help to families in more difficult circumstances.”

The "sweet fruit" in the journey of building warm homes of Long An province (old), Tay Ninh province (old), and the new Tay Ninh province has become a bright spot in the implementation of the work of gratitude, social security, sustainable poverty reduction, etc. Thereby, contributing to promoting localities to soon complete the task of building new rural areas, developing the socio-economy, creating a strong driving force to enter the era of national development./.
