Girl uses MMA to control tattooed young man

According to a video recorded by a security camera that quickly spread on social networks recently, a young girl wearing sportswear "knocked out" a tattooed young man right in the parking garage of an apartment building in Hanoi. The incident happened in May, but only became noisy when the clip was posted by someone else on the afternoon of August 26, creating a strong wave of attention.

It is known that the girl in the video is identified as HH (28 years old), currently working in an office and participating in an MMA martial arts club in Hanoi. She has been practicing ju-jitsu since 2021, combining it with MMA to improve her health and self-defense. HH recounted that the reason came from the young man insulting and then attacking her first. Although she initially wanted to leave, the insult was so excessive that she could not control herself, so she fought back out of defensive instinct.

Before the incident, security guards and acquaintances tried to stop her, but she still rushed in and successfully restrained the young man in just a few minutes. The young man later apologized to HH. After that, H.'s story quickly attracted attention thanks to her fierce resistance and ability to control the situation with only martial arts skills. In particular, the MMA moves that H. applied when "colliding" with the tattooed young man also attracted attention.

According to the lawyer, the initial image shows that the girl's behavior is not considered a crime because it was a legitimate act of self-defense, to fight back against the previous physical impact of the young man.

Unlike traditional martial arts with fixed rules, MMA allows the use of all legal moves from any school, as long as they do not violate the competition rules and can defeat the opponent. Because of this "freedom", MMA is considered one of the most realistic and effective combat sports today. With strong development globally, especially through famous tournaments such as UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), ONE Championship... MMA has been affirming its position as a modern, attractive sport, and at the same time, a place to honor the combination of skills, strategy and uncompromising fighting spirit.

When did MMA appear in Vietnam?

In Vietnam, MMA began to develop strongly more than 5 years ago. Accordingly, the Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation (abbreviated as VMMA) was officially established in early 2020. The establishment of VMMA is considered to be in line with the general development trend of mixed martial arts in the world. Previously, the MMA development movement was very bustling but was only spontaneous and was not allowed to organize competitions.

VMMA was established to help the sports industry and related agencies orient, control and help mixed martial arts return to its true value. VMMA will issue rules and regulations to be able to organize its own MMA tournaments in Vietnam, in addition to welcoming international tournaments such as ONE Championship.

VMMA has the role of guiding this attractive martial art to develop in accordance with Vietnamese culture, not exceeding the threshold allowed by Vietnamese culture. Competitions and mixed martial arts tournaments in Vietnam will be strictly controlled and must comply with the provisions of Vietnamese law and the tournament rules.
