This event was held together with the opening of the 2023 Ninh Thuan grape and wine festival in Phan Rang - Thap Cham city, with the participation ofPresident Vo Van Thuong and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.

The Cham pottery making profession has existed for a long time and is still maintained by the Cham community in Bau Truc pottery village (Ninh Phuoc district, Ninh Thuan) and Binh Duc pottery village (Bac Binh district, Binh Thuan).

Cham ceramic products are produced to serve the consumption and religious needs of the community as well as to be used as gifts and to decorate works of art. Not only are the production techniques sophisticated, creating specific products, but they also contain many secrets, skills and experiences passed down from generation to generation.

With its unique artistic values, on November 29, 2022, UNESCO officially listed "Cham pottery art on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding".

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha said that this is the first traditional craft of Vietnam to be recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Along with pride, the recognition also raises the responsibility to preserve, conserve, promote and revitalize this heritage.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ninh Thuan province need to have specific plans to preserve, conserve and promote tangible and intangible cultural values, improving the material and spiritual life of the people.
