The 'magical' notebook helps Phu Tho female student become valedictorian of block A with three 10s

In the recent high school graduation exam, Hien Mai got 10 in Math; 8.5 in Literature; 10 in Physics and 10 in Chemistry. The total score for admission to block A00 was 30 absolute points.

"The moment I got my score, my family and I were overwhelmed with emotion. Before that, I had compared the answers announced by the Ministry of Education and Training but was still not really sure about my results. Only when I got my official score did I feel truly happy," Hien Mai confided.

Although born into a family with a tradition of social studies, Hien Mai soon showed outstanding talent in logical thinking, especially Math and Chemistry. Right from primary school, the 10X actively participated in many domestic Math competitions and "pocketed" countless medals.

However, entering secondary school, Hien Mai began to discover the "magic" of Chemistry and decided to turn to this field.

During her journey with Chemistry, Hien Mai has continuously achieved outstanding results: First prize in Chemistry at the provincial excellent student competition in the 2021-2022 school year, thereby being directly admitted to the Chemistry specialized class of Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted. In the 2024-2025 school year, the excellent female student won Second prize at the provincial level in Chemistry.

Notably, her average score in grade 12 was 9.5, and her Math, Physics, and Chemistry scores in all three semesters were always an impressive 9.8-9.,9.

Sharing about the graduation exam preparation process, Hien Mai said that she did not focus too much on solving a lot of questions. Instead, she focused on listening to lectures, trying to grasp knowledge in class and proactively asking teachers whenever she encountered a part she did not understand.

"I don't study according to sample papers, but try to analyze to understand the nature of the problem, from there find a suitable solution. In addition, I also have a special notebook to record all the easily forgotten knowledge and common mistakes to review before the exam," the female student said. Every time I do the test or when I have free time, I take out the notebook to read by myself, to gain experience for the next time I solve the test.

Hien Mai often spends a lot of time on Physics, because it is not her strong point. As for Chemistry, which is her strong point, the 10X student studies more lightly. To stay healthy, the female student often focuses on studying during the day and tries to go to bed before 11pm.

In the 2025 high school graduation exam, the Math exam was considered difficult and highly classified, many candidates were worried and even cried after leaving the exam room. Therefore, achieving a perfect score of 10 was a miracle for Hien Mai.

"I found the Math test to be within my ability, not too difficult, just a bit long. After the test, I knew I could do it, but I didn't dare to say I got a perfect score because I was afraid of making mistakes somewhere," Hien Mai confided.

Mr. Tran Thanh Tuan, homeroom teacher of the Chemistry class at Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted ( Phu Tho ), commented that Hien Mai was an excellent student throughout her three years of study. She studied all subjects equally, but stood out in the trio of Math - Physics - Chemistry. In the school's mock exams or the Department of Education and Training's exams, Hien Mai was always in the top, often being the valedictorian.

“Not only is Mai a good student, she is also an active class monitor, always enthusiastically participating in school movements. I believe that today's results are completely worthy of her ability and persistent efforts,” said Mr. Tuan.

Currently, Hien Mai has not decided which specific major she will use the A00 combination to apply for. The Phu Tho female student is in the process of researching and carefully considering to choose the most suitable aspiration for her interests and future orientation.
