The conference was co-chaired by the Foreign Minister of Malaysia and the Foreign Minister of Japan. The Palestinian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation attended as a guest of the Co-Chairs. The Prime Minister of the State of Palestine sent a video message to the conference.
CEAPAD is a cooperation mechanism initiated by Japan in 2013 with the participation of East Asian countries (ASEAN countries, Korea, Japan, etc.) to increase development support for Palestine. In recent times, Vietnam has proactively and actively supported in terms of politics - diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, human resource training, actively participated and proposed specific initiatives to support the Palestinian Authority.
At the conference, countries expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to violence, ensuring the safety of civilians and facilitating humanitarian assistance efforts. The conference stressed the need to strengthen the efforts of the international community and promote the CEAPAD partnership to support urgent humanitarian needs as well as in the recovery, reconstruction and development of Palestine. The conference adopted the Kuala Lumpur CEAPAD Action Plan IV to strengthen and coordinate assistance efforts based on Palestinian needs and in line with practical requirements.
Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son affirmed Vietnam's consistent stance of supporting a fair, comprehensive and long-term solution to the Palestine issue, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State, with East Jerusalem as its capital, on the basis of pre-1967 borders and in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son also emphasized his readiness to cooperate closely with partners, including East Asian countries, to mobilize resources, share development experiences and support capacity building for the State and people of Palestine.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son announced an additional humanitarian aid of 350,000 USD for the Palestinian people through relevant international organizations, contributing to sharing difficulties with the Palestinian people and supporting the reconstruction process of Palestine.
