Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang stated: As has been repeatedly affirmed, Vietnam has sufficient legal basis and historical evidence to affirm its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law, as well as its sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction over its maritime zones established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

On March 23, in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's stance on the statement of Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin on March 14, 2024 and the Statement of the Philippine Ministry of Foreign Affairs on March 17, 2024 on the East Sea issue, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang emphasized: Regarding the claims in the East Sea that are contrary to international law, violate Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos, as well as violate Vietnam's sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction over Vietnam's maritime zones established in accordance with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, Vietnam's stance is always clear, consistent and has been affirmed many times, accordingly, Vietnam resolutely opposes and rejects all these claims.

Ms. Pham Thu Hang affirmed that Vietnam hopes that relevant countries will truly respect and comply with the provisions of UNCLOS 1982, together contributing to maintaining peace, stability and seeking fundamental, long-term solutions in the East Sea.
