According to RT on July 2, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker told Fox Business that the US is suspending arms supplies to Ukraine as part of its "America First" policy. He stressed that the US needs to ensure the country has enough air defense systems in its arsenal before anything else.

"This is America First. We have to take care of America's needs first. We have to make sure we have enough Patriot missiles, enough air defenses, everything that is necessary to ensure our victory on the battlefield," Whitaker told Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo on July 2.

Politico and NBC News reported earlier this week that the Pentagon had halted shipments of some US-made weapons to Ukraine. The list of weapons reportedly included dozens of Patriot interceptors, Stinger and AIM missiles, hundreds of Hellfire and GMLRS systems, as well as thousands of 155mm artillery shells.

The decision is said to stem from an internal review of the US weapons stockpile ordered by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

Last month, US Defense Secretary Hegseth said the White House was cutting military aid to Kiev as part of an “America First” strategy, in the hope of reaching a diplomatic solution. Kiev has repeatedly voiced frustration over what it sees as waning support from Washington.
