Striker Nguyen Van Toan scored on the day Nam Dinh Club "defeated" Binh Phuoc Club 4-0 in the 2023/24 National Cup qualifiers.

Traveling to Binh Phuoc's field on the evening of November 26, Nam Dinh Club had to defend for most of the first half. However, in the 38th minute, striker Tran Van Dat opened the score for the away team with a close-range shot.
Van Toan entered the field after the first half break. It only took him two minutes to shine thanks to a skillful maneuver in a circle surrounded by 3 Binh Phuoc defenders. The goal relieved a lot of pressure for the former Hoang Anh Gia Lai star.
Towards the second half, the home team showed their weakness when coach Vu Hong Viet made many effective personnel changes.
Player Nguyen Van Vi took only two minutes after entering the field like Van Toan to raise the score to 3-0. Meanwhile, striker Hoang Minh Tuan comfortably chipped the ball in the penalty area in the final minutes to set the score at 4-0 for Nam Dinh.
Nam Dinh Club will meet Quy Nhon Binh Dinh in the 1/8 round of the 2023-2024 National Cup.
After the match, Van Toan shared: "I am very happy to have scored a goal after a long time, especially this is the first goal for Nam Dinh Club. The whole team has practiced playing without foreign players during the time I was focusing on the Vietnam national team. The coaching staff has always trusted and given us opportunities."
In another notable match in the 2023/24 National Cup qualifiers, Song Lam Nghe An Club easily defeated Dong Thap 6-2 to advance to the round of 16 against SHB Da Nang. Vietnam U23 star Dinh Xuan Tien left his mark with a double.
