According to Dr. Hang The Co, Department of Gastroenterology, Hoan My Saigon Hospital, hemorrhoids are one of the most common anorectal diseases today, occurring due to many causes. Among them, there is excessive dilation and hypertrophy of hemorrhoidal venous plexuses in the anal-rectal area. Patients often feel hesitant to go for examination because this is a sensitive area, delaying treatment can lead to other dangerous diseases such as polyps, tumors, ulcers in the anorectal area...
Currently, there are many methods to treat hemorrhoids such as: medical treatment (with drugs and changing lifestyle habits); procedures (sclerotherapy, rubber band ligation, etc.), surgery (longo surgery, laser hemorrhoidectomy, etc.).
According to the recommendations of the Vietnam Colorectal Association updated in 2024, the application of laser in hemorrhoid surgery is an optimal treatment solution to help reduce postoperative symptoms, increase patient satisfaction, and significantly improve the quality of life after treatment. This method is indicated for patients with grade 2 and 3 internal hemorrhoids with symptoms that do not improve with medical treatments.
When performing laser hemorrhoid surgery (laser hemorrhoid shaping), the surgeon will not cut directly into the hemorrhoid but will use a laser to burn the blood vessels deep inside to reduce the volume of the hemorrhoid, flatten and adhere the hemorrhoid tissue. This method is performed in combination with spinal anesthesia, laryngeal mask anesthesia or endotracheal anesthesia.

The advantage of this method is that the treatment is safe and personalized: each patient uses a separate laser wire that is used only once. The laser head is inserted deep into the hemorrhoids through a small incision of about 2mm on the skin.
Minimally invasive method, avoids many post-operative complications, shortens treatment and recovery time for patients.
