Vietnam U19 women's team does not give up the goal of winning the Southeast Asian championship

(Dan Tri) - Coach Okiyama Masahiko (Japanese) expressed his opinion that the Vietnamese U19 women's team will compete for the Southeast Asian U19 women's championship, before the semi-final match against Indonesia tomorrow night (June 16).

The semi-finals of the Southeast Asian U19 Women's Football Championship will take place at Thong Nhat Stadium tomorrow. Vietnam's U19 Women's Team will face Indonesia and Thailand will face Myanmar.

Before the semi-final match against Indonesia, coach Okiyama Masahiko of the Vietnam U19 team said: "After 3 group stage matches, the Vietnam U19 women's team played quite well, implementing the plan we set out."

“My players scored 16 goals, but we still failed to make the most of the many chances we created. The Vietnam U19 women’s team will improve their finishing in the training session before the semi-final,” added coach Okiyama Masahiko.

Regarding the Indonesian opponent, the Japanese coach said: “The Indonesian U19 women's team has many players with big bodies. They are strong and have a style of play that is not afraid of collisions.”

“I said before the tournament, our goal is to reach the final and win the championship. Now, we have the opportunity to do that, so the Vietnam U19 women's team will be determined to win the highest position. We will compete to win the championship this year,” Okiyama Masahiko emphasized.

As for the Indonesian U19 women's team, this team also uses a Japanese coach, Mr. Akira Higashiyama. Before the semi-final match with the Vietnamese U19 women's team, coach Akira Higashiyama shared: "The Vietnamese U19 women's team is a strong team, but we will play our best."

“I also want to add that I will not reveal to you tactically, only that we will play with the highest enthusiasm.

After this tournament, I will introduce some outstanding faces in my team to the Indonesian women's national football team, preparing for the 2026 Asian Cup qualifiers (starting at the end of June) and the 2025 Southeast Asian tournament (August)," coach Akira Higashiyama affirmed.

The semi-final match between Vietnam U19 women's team and Indonesia will take place at 6:30 p.m. on June 16. Before that, at 3:00 p.m., there will be a semi-final match between Thailand and Myanmar.
