Vietnam women's team has special action in victory over Thailand

The Vietnamese women's team celebrated the only goal against Thailand with the number 16 jersey of midfielder Duong Thi Van - who suffered a serious injury in the victory over Indonesia.

On the evening of August 12, the Vietnamese women's team met Thailand in the match for first place in Group A. Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ) was filled with red-shirted fans cheering on coach Mai Duc Chung and his team.

The Vietnamese women's team is determined to defeat Thailand, not only for 3 points, but also to affirm its position as number 1 in Southeast Asia.

After attacking efforts, the home team got the opening goal.

In the 36th minute, captain Huynh Nhu broke through on the right wing, she passed the Thai captain and crossed low for Thu Thao to volley, leaving goalkeeper Pawarisa standing still and watching.

This was also the only goal that brought victory to the girls in red.

The Vietnamese women's team left an emotional image with Duong Thi Van celebrating with the number 16 shirt.

Previously, in the 7-0 win over Indonesia, Duong Thi Van suffered a serious injury and had to be hospitalized. This midfielder is currently being monitored for her health. With a complete victory in Group A, the Vietnamese women's team ranked first and will meet the second-placed team in Group B in the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.
