At 3:00 p.m. on May 28, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team faced Australia in the semi-finals of the AVC Challenge Cup 2024. In the group stage, the Vietnamese girls ranked first in Group B with 4 wins. Meanwhile, in Group A, the kangaroo team won second place in Group B with 9 points after 4 matches. They defeated Taiwan (China), India, Iran and lost to the host Philippines.

In the world rankings, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is ranked 38th, while Australia is ranked 56th (18 places lower). In the two previous meetings at the VTV Cup 2023 international tournament and the 2023 Asian Championship, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team won 3-0.

Bich Tuyen is still the main hitter of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team.

Coach Tuan Kiet released the strongest lineup including: Kieu Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen, Tu Linh, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Kim Thoa, Khanh Dang. Thus, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy still cannot compete due to injury.

The advantage in physique helped Australia get off to a better start, then the two teams played an exciting tug-of-war. The player who scored the most points for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was still Bich Tuyen. After being led by their opponents 16-14, the Vietnamese girls took the lead 19-16, 23-19 before ending the set with a score of 25-21.

In set 2, Bich Tuyen helped the Vietnamese women's volleyball team score 4 consecutive points, leaving their opponents behind by 6-7 points. Australia's efforts were worthy of recognition when they narrowed the gap to 16-19, but they still had to accept defeat in this set with a score of 19-25.

A well deserved victory for the Vietnamese girls.

In set 3, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team was determined to win to end the match early, while Australia continued to play defensively and wait for the opponent's weakness.

Bich Tuyen, Tu Linh, and Kieu Trinh did not let the team from the land of kangaroos do what they wanted. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team created a gap of 17-10, before ending the set with a score of 25-16, winning 3-0 in the final.

In the final match of the AVC Challenge Cup 2024 (6 p.m. on May 29), coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team will face Kazakhstan, the team that lost 1-3 to the Vietnamese women's team in the group stage. Kazakhstan defeated the host Philippines 3-1 in the second semi-final match last night.
