The water level of Lo River is rising and is likely to reach above alert level 1 at 6:00 p.m. today, June 29.
At 7:00 a.m. on June 29, the upstream water level of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir was at 107.26 m, the downstream water level was 52.32 m, the flow to the reservoir was nearly 1,800 m3/s. To ensure the safety of the reservoir, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment decided to open the bottom spillway. Thus, today Tuyen Quang Hydropower Reservoir will open 3 spillway gates, the water flow is about 2,200-2,400 m3/s. The hydropower reservoir's flood discharge, combined with heavy rain, will cause water to rise on the river and stream system. The water level of Lo River in Tuyen Quang city is forecast to rise to 22-23 m, higher than alert level 1.
To ensure safety in production activities and daily life of people in the downstream areas, local authorities urgently notify aquaculture facilities, households, and waterway transport vehicles to proactively take response measures to ensure safety of people and property. People absolutely do not go to the river to collect firewood or catch fish when the flood water on the river rises.
