Mr. Tran Dinh Trong, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of the Ea Tu Agricultural Service Cooperative in Dak Lak province, said that coffee transactions since the end of June have shown signs of slowing down due to strong price fluctuations.
According to Mr. Trong, although coffee prices have dropped sharply, many farmers still hold onto their goods in the hope that prices will recover to 150,000 VND/kg.
"Those who keep coffee waiting for prices to increase can be considered investors in their own products. When investing, you have to accept the risk. Farmers only need to calculate production costs. If they can sell at a profit, they will sell immediately without thinking too much," Mr. Trong shared.
Coffee is a major export commodity, greatly influenced by world prices and financial speculation. Therefore, the market is often complicated, there are years when there is a bad harvest but the price still decreases, on the contrary, when there is a good harvest, the price increases.
The mixed movements between the two exchanges partly reflect investors' cautious sentiment, especially when the USDA forecasts global coffee output in the 2025–2026 crop year to reach about 178.68 million bags, while demand is only about 169.36 million bags, creating a surplus of more than 9 million bags.
In Vietnam, although the old crop coffee supply is almost exhausted, domestic coffee prices are still under downward pressure due to the influence of the world market.

Paulo Armelin, a major Brazilian coffee producer who sells directly to US roasters, said his customers would not be able to absorb the tariffs.
“We will have to look for alternative markets, possibly Germany,” he added, saying that signing contracts earlier this year had become more difficult due to recent increases in coffee prices.
