The Women's Association of Vinh Phuc Provincial Police, together with benefactors and residents of Lien Binh Residential Group, Hop Hoa Town, Tam Duong District, recently donated, collected and repaired more than 100 bicycles to hand out to poor students in Sa Phin Commune, Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province.
The “Bicycles for Children” model was launched by the Women's Union of Vinh Phuc Provincial Police in August 2023. Up to now, the model has been widely deployed in all levels of the Union and the entire provincial police force.
To spread this model, from the very beginning, every cadre and member has been a propagandist, an active member in supporting and calling for donations of new or used bicycles from the community.
Through mass mobilization and socialization, up to now, the program "Bicycles for Children" of the Women's Association of Vinh Phuc Provincial Police has connected with benefactors to support and donate 107 bicycles to 67 disadvantaged children sponsored by the Women's Association of the Provincial Police and 40 poor students who have overcome difficulties and orphans in the province.
The "Bicycles for Children" model will be maintained and expanded by the Women's Union of Vinh Phuc Provincial Police so that more children in difficult circumstances can "go to school".
Each bicycle brought to the land of Ha Giang is not only a material gift, but also has the meaning of "carrying joy" to poor students and students with difficult circumstances in Sa Phin commune, helping them have a means of transportation to school, encouraging them to have more determination to excel in their studies.
Vang Thi La, a 4th grader at Sa Phin Primary School, Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province, said: “My friends and I often have to walk to class. I really like seeing my friends cycling to school, but my family is in difficult circumstances and cannot buy me a bike. I have always dreamed of having a bike to go to school by myself. Now that I have a bike to go to school, I am very happy and thank the “Police Officers” of Vinh Phuc Province for helping me achieve my dream.”
At the program, the delegation also presented 120 pairs of shoes to poor students to warm their feet when the weather enters the cold winter.
