On the evening of July 7, the 5th National Professional Stage Arts Festival on “The Image of the Police Soldier” in 2025 officially ended with a solemn closing and award ceremony at Ho Guom Theater, Hanoi.

The 5th National Professional Stage Arts Festival on “The Image of the Police Soldier” in 2025 is organized by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Stage Artists Association. This is also a key cultural and artistic activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Day and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, presented awards to the units whose plays won Gold Medals.

Associate Professor, Doctor, musician Do Hong Quan, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, presented awards to the units whose plays won Silver Medals.

After 13 days of competition, the units performed 25 works, including 15 Dramas, 4 Cheo plays, and 2 Cai Luong plays. Notably, 2 plays were staged from scripts by 2 authors who are police officers, and 7 plays used scripts from the Stage Script Writing Camps on the theme “For National Security and Peaceful Life” organized by the Ministry of Public Security.

On behalf of the Jury, giving a speech summarizing the festival, Dr. and playwright Nguyen Dang Chuong commented: The 25 works participating in this festival are 25 pieces to create a fairly complete picture of the image of the People's Public Security soldier. That picture bears a historical mark because it tells us stories about the Public Security since the country just gained independence, during the two great wars of national defense and the construction and protection of the beloved Vietnam. That picture is multi-colored, because it vividly depicts many aspects, many fields, many tasks, many challenges, difficulties, many hidden corners of life and in social life that have been and are weighing heavily on the shoulders of the People's Public Security soldier.

Deep in the picture, there are also humanistic values, those values ​​lead the viewer to feel, contemplate, cleanse and purify the soul to live a good life, do good things, erase bad things, and together build a happy and civilized society. The sparkle and clarity of this picture is to create strong emotions for the audience through the image of the People's Public Security soldier. That image contains happiness, bitterness, joy, sadness, will, determination, aspiration, love, hardship, difficulty, glory, responsibility, anxiety, contemplation, talent, courage... and covering it all is the virtue of sacrifice. Sacrifice for the people, for the country...

However, Dr. and playwright Nguyen Dang Chuong also pointed out many disadvantages at the festival, such as not many works that reflect on the past, some works are too indulgent, exploiting too much about crime, about sinful thoughts and actions, plots and schemes, cunning tricks to the point of losing all humanity of the criminals, so the image of the police officer in the work is blurred. Some plays lack authenticity. The characters are police officers who have sacrificed too much!

“Our police are the “People's Police” but there has not been any play that has exploited the issue of “Policemen living in the hearts of the people”, “the people's feelings for the police officers”, “the flesh and blood bond between the people and the police”, “The people are the fulcrum to create the image of the police officer” and many other interesting issues that have not been exploited”. “The creative forces of the stage arts only understand the police officer in the external form, in the information that the media reports every day, but do not understand the core, the nature, the hardships and sacrifices, the deep inside that has become the flesh and blood of the police officer”, Dr. and playwright Nguyen Dang Chuong commented.

At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 5 Gold Medals, 8 Silver Medals, 9 Bronze Medals to the play; 50 Gold Medals, 50 Silver Medals, 50 Bronze Medals to the actors and 13 thematic awards for Excellent Director; Excellent Sound and Lighting Director; Excellent Young Actor playing the role of a Police Officer; Excellent Stage Artist.
