Just hours after Tebas's statement, Perez responded in an interview with DAZN : "I want to thank FIFA for giving all the fans in the world the opportunity to see the best clubs compete in such a beautiful tournament. This is the first expanded Club World Cup, and I am sure it will be a success. Those who oppose the tournament only want to take football back."
Perez stressed the importance of the tournament: “Finally, Real Madrid has achieved what the club has been fighting for for a long time. The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup - an expanded 32-team edition - is a strategic gamble by FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The world football federation has ambitions to turn the tournament into a "Club World Cup", applying many new rules and technologies.
