Tottenham have signed Ange Postecoglou on a four-year deal, making him the first Australian manager to work in the Premier League.

The London club agreed to pay a one-year compensation for Postecoglou's contract with Scottish club Celtic to bring him to Tottenham Hotspur.
He will be the club's first permanent manager since Antonio Conte, who was sacked in March. Tottenham were managed by two interim managers at the end of last season, Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason. They finished eighth in the Premier League, meaning they will not be able to play in Europe next season.
Tottenham had been eyeing Postecoglou for some time, but had to wait until he finished his season with Celtic. On June 3, Postecoglou helped Celtic beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup final to complete the treble of the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Scottish League Cup.
Former Barca and Spain coach Luis Enrique was once on Tottenham's shortlist. But the 53-year-old is said to be waiting for the chance to sign for Serie A champions Napoli, who have just parted ways with Luciano Spalletti. Feyenoord coach Arne Slot and former Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann are also being eyed by Tottenham. Nagelsmann is also the leading candidate to replace Christophe Galtier as PSG head coach.
Postecoglou has little coaching experience in Europe. In 2021, he left Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos for Celtic, where he helped the club win the Scottish Premiership and League Cup double in both seasons. Before that, Postecoglou had only coached domestic clubs such as Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory. The 57-year-old coach led the Australian team to the 2014 World Cup and then qualified for the 2018 World Cup before leaving after more than four years in the job.
