Help us together
After 5 a.m., Mrs. Ban Mi Dau, Minh Quang commune, woke up to do housework. Hearing the villagers calling each other, she quickly took rice from the bin, picked some vegetables from the garden, then quickly joined the crowd to help clean up the temporary, dilapidated house for Ma Thi Nhi's family, a fellow villager. "All the products that people bring will be donated to support the homeowner," said Mrs. Dau.

Comrade Ma Dinh Quan, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Minh Quang commune, said: Since the poor households with housing difficulties have been supported by the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Prime Minister ; all the roads in the villages have been filled with the laughter of people contributing labor. In people's hands, not only are there hoes, shovels, and hammers, but also many types of food and provisions brought along to help households... In some villages in the commune, they also exchange labor, helping each other dig foundations, roofing houses,... and the form of labor exchange can be by planting and harvesting crops.
Ma Dinh Duc’s family in Na Nghe village has been living in a difficult situation for many years, living in a makeshift, dilapidated house. But the joy came when his family received 60 million VND from the State to build a new, solid house. With the support of the State and the villagers, his family now has a new, spacious house.
Mr. Duc said that his family received financial support from the State to build a new, solid house. However, due to difficult circumstances, during the process of building the house, his family received enthusiastic help from the villagers and friends. Understanding the family's situation, when building the house, from mobilizing workers, dismantling the old house, transporting materials, starting construction... all thanks to the help of the people. In particular, by exchanging labor, his family did not have to spend much money.
Comrade Ma Thi Thang, Secretary of the Na Nghe Village Party Cell, Minh Quang Commune, said: "In the process of supporting disadvantaged households to build houses, the Party Cell assigned groups and teams to help families build houses. At the same time, we also assigned Party members to monitor the progress of each household's house building."
New home, new life
These days, in the new house of Mrs. Ma Thi Quan's family, Ban Cuong village is always filled with joy and laughter of people coming to celebrate. In the new house, there is still the smell of lime and paint, Mrs. Quan cannot hide her joy and happiness when her long-standing wish of a spacious house to shelter from rain and storms has come true. Mrs. Quan's family is a near-poor household, for many years the grandparents have lived in a dilapidated, leaky house with bamboo walls. Due to difficult economic conditions, the children are not well off, so repairing and building a new house is too far away for the family. Faced with difficult circumstances, after screening, her family was put on the list of support for building new houses.
After 2 months of construction, Ms. Quan's house of more than 50 square meters was completed. Ms. Quan said: "Now that we are old and in poor health, the State has supported us to build a new house, helping us settle down in our old age; to work with peace of mind, and strive to escape poverty."
Like other poor households in Minh Quang commune, Mr. Vi Van Tien's family in Ban Don village used to be poor and lived in a seriously degraded house. In 2025, his family received 60 million VND from the State to build a house. With the help of the government, brothers, relatives and people in the village, the house was completed. Mr. Tien emotionally said: "My family is very happy and grateful to the Party, the State, the local government and all the people in the village for their attention and support in funding the construction of a new house. With a new house, my family can work with peace of mind, develop the economy and give our children a full education, trying to escape poverty soon."
With the support of the State, the sharing and care of neighbors and the community, poor households in Minh Quang commune have been able to settle down in new, solid houses filled with warmth and love, creating motivation and belief in a brighter future.
