Lam Dong province builds durian production model bringing profit of more than 1.3 billion VND/ha

On July 11, in Quang Tin commune, Lam Dong Provincial Agricultural Extension Center coordinated with Bayer Vietnam Co., Ltd. to summarize the model "Large-scale high-quality model durian garden".

Previously, in November 2024, the model "Large-scale high-quality model durian garden" was deployed by the Lam Dong Provincial Agricultural Extension Center with the participation of 10 households in communes in the former Dak Nong province (now Lam Dong province). According to the agreement, the model was implemented on a scale of 200 hectares, including 10 model hectares (1 hectare/household) and 10 control hectares (1 hectare/household). The remaining area will be implemented by households themselves if they find it effective. In fact, the area applying the model has reached about 300 hectares.

The durian gardens of households selected to participate in the model "Large-scale high-quality model durian gardens" are all in their 5th year or older, have yielded harvests, and have crop uniformity of over 80%.

Lam Dong Provincial Agricultural Extension Center summarizes the model — Lam Dong Provincial Agricultural Extension Center provides scientific and technical training to households participating in the model "Large-scale high-quality model durian garden".

After nearly a year of implementation, the model has yielded very positive results. The productivity of the model garden "Large-scale high-quality model durian garden" reached 30 tons/ha, the rate of grade 1 products was over 85% with a bulk selling price of 65,000 VND/kg. After deducting all costs, the profit was more than 1.3 billion VND/ha.

Compared to the control durian garden, the yield reached 27 tons/ha, the rate of grade 1 products reached about 78% with a selling price of 63,000 VND/kg and after deducting all costs, the profit was more than 1 billion VND/ha.

This result shows that effective pest management has helped the model garden have stable productivity, minimizing damage caused by pests. The productivity of the model garden is 10% higher than the control garden, while the profit is significantly higher.

The model of "Large-scale high-quality model durian garden" was implemented at a time when the domestic durian industry in general and in Lam Dong in particular are facing many strict quality requirements from the consumer market. The use of safe, effective and technically correct pesticides has contributed to improving the productivity and quality of durian products, while demonstrating a responsible production method towards consumers and the living environment.
