On the afternoon of August 25, storm No. 5 (international name Kajiki) weakened to level 12, gusting to level 14, and entered the mainland in the northern part of Ha Tinh province - southern part of Nghe An province. Although its intensity has decreased, the storm still causes strong winds, widespread heavy rain, and a high risk of flooding, flash floods and landslides in many localities.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that localities and forces be ready to quickly implement disaster recovery work immediately after storms and floods to ensure that activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2) and the opening of the new school year are safe, joyful and warm for the people.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested that localities continue to review and evacuate people from dangerous areas; especially Thanh Hoa and Nghe An must send leaders directly to mountainous areas to direct response to the storm and post-storm circulation. Military and border guards quickly deploy the "4 on-site" motto to respond promptly and overcome the consequences.

Dual benefits for economic development

With the regulation of reducing the required reserve ratio by 50% from October 1, 2025 for some banks, it is forecasted that a large amount of capital of tens of thousands of billions of VND will be added to the economy.

Banking and finance experts share the same opinion that the State Bank's policy of reducing the required reserve ratio by 50% exclusively for credit institutions receiving mandatory transfers is a strategic liquidity boost for the four banks receiving transfers.

On the economic side, this policy contributes to supplementing liquidity, promoting stronger capital flows into production and business, reducing interest rate pressure, and creating growth momentum for businesses and people.

Child nutrition: Early intervention to avoid consequences

Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Tri Thuc assessed that nutrition work is facing existential barriers. The rate of stunted children in ethnic minority areas is still over 30%, nearly double the national average. In contrast to this situation is the attack of the "silent enemy" called overweight and obesity.

Director of the National Institute of Nutrition Tran Thanh Duong said that Vietnam is facing four nutritional burdens, including malnutrition in children under 5 years old in poor areas, poor communes, and ethnic minority areas; overweight and obesity in children aged 5-19 in urban areas; micronutrient deficiencies (Vitamin A, iron, zinc, iodine); and increasing non-communicable diseases related to nutrition.

Director of the Department of Disease Prevention (Ministry of Health) Le Thai Ha recommended that students at all levels need to be educated about nutrition, ensuring nutrition while studying at school through school meals according to each age and having their nutritional status assessed.

2025 University Admissions: Unsynchronized Innovation, Candidates Face Difficulties

The 2025 university and college admissions are entering their final stages with candidates confirming their enrollment. However, the implementation of innovations in admissions is still lacking in consistency, leaving many candidates feeling passive, anxious and confused.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Yen (Giang Vo ward) was upset: "My child got nearly 29 points in block D01 but failed all three first choices because after conversion, the score was lower than the friend who got less points. The family is very confused because they don't understand the reason."

The incident related to the announcement of the benchmark scores also made candidates angry. Many candidates unexpectedly failed the university entrance exam because the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) adjusted the admission combination.

According to experts, one or two official methods should be maintained, in which high school graduation exam scores are still the main basis to ensure fairness on a national level.

Every citizen is a messenger of culture and civilization.

These days, all roads and all eyes are on Hanoi, where in just a few days there will be a celebration, parade, and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) - abbreviated as A80.

The good news is that most of the people participating had a good sense of responsibility, strictly followed the requirements and instructions of the authorities, stood in the right place, did not push and shove, causing disorder. Many beautiful images showing sharing and tolerance were spread on social networks, making everyone who saw them feel warm and proud.

In contrast, there were offensive images of many people littering the streets. As people walked away, trash was strewn across the ground. During the practice session on the evening of August 24, dozens of people trampled hundreds of meters of flowers and ornamental plants on Van Cao - Lieu Giai street.

The A80 parade is an opportunity for the whole nation to review the glorious history and pay tribute to our ancestors who sacrificed their blood and bones to build independence; for us, especially the young generation, to deeply feel the value of peace. Each citizen should behave in a civilized, modern, cultural, friendly and affectionate manner.
