Update on world gold price this afternoon continues to increase strongly
World gold price, at 4:00 p.m. on August 26, 2025 (Vietnam time), the world spot gold price was at 3,375.6 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 10.6 USD compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,510 VND/USD), world gold is priced at about 112.3 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Compared to the domestic SJC gold bar price on the same day (126.1-127.7 million VND/tael), the current SJC gold price is about 15.4 million higher than the international gold price.

Gold prices rose to their highest level in more than two weeks on Tuesday after US President Donald Trump fired Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, a move widely seen as eroding the central bank’s independence and undermining confidence in US assets.
Spot gold rose 0.4% to $3,379.05 an ounce by 0803 GMT, after hitting its highest since Aug. 11 in early trading. Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures for December delivery also rose 0.3% to $3,425.80.
Mr Trump took the unprecedented step of firing Ms Cook on Monday over allegations related to a mortgage loan.
"Investors see Trump's move as an attempt to secure a dovish majority among the Fed membership... this poses a risk to the Fed's independence and increases market uncertainty, leading investors to turn to gold," said Carlo Alberto De Casa, an analyst at Swissquote.
This non-yielding precious metal typically performs well in low interest rate environments and times of economic uncertainty.
The world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, SPDR Gold Trust, said its holdings rose 0.18% to 958.49 tonnes on Monday, from 956.77 tonnes on Friday.
Earlier on Friday, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell signaled the possibility of a rate cut at next month's meeting, saying risks to the job market were rising but inflation remained a threat, and that the decision was not yet final.
“The market is pricing in a 25 basis point rate cut (in September). A deeper cut would be even more supportive for gold, but I don’t think that’s a likely scenario, as Fed members may be worried about the pace of the labor market slowdown but they are still looking at inflation risks,” De Casa added.
Investors are now watching the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, the personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index, due for release on Friday for further signals on the central bank's monetary policy direction.
In other markets, spot silver rose 0.4% to $38.71 an ounce, platinum fell 0.4% to $1,336.66 and palladium rose 0.7% to $1,093.50.
