6 month old babies can use horse balm
Recently, a video posted by TikToker Me Cua Com - who is quite famous on social networks - advertising white horse balm for 6-month-old babies is receiving mixed opinions from the public.
It is worth mentioning that this TikToker has hundreds of thousands of followers. When posting content related to eating and health, he has received the attention of many people, especially those with young children.
Recently, when advertising white horse balm, this female TikToker affirmed that this product can be used for everyone, including children from 6 months and up.
"For adults, this piece can last for 30 days, which means 1 month. For children, each time I cook porridge, I only give them a tiny bit, about the size of a pea," this person introduced.
After this clip was posted on social media, it created a wave of fierce controversy, receiving many mixed comments, especially the statement: "Babies from 6 months old and up, just need to know how to eat powdered milk and porridge to be able to use horse balm."
According to many people, such advertising is unscientific and unsafe for children, especially for products that are completely handmade, without instructions for use, ingredients, or inspection information from authorities.
Furthermore, for 6-month-old children, the use of horse glue is not recommended because the digestive system is still weak, unable to absorb and excrete complex active ingredients, thereby affecting the function of internal organs.
After receiving mixed opinions, this TikToker "corrected" that "it is edible, but not recommended". After the correction, the online community still felt unsatisfied.
Do not arbitrarily supplement for children
Doctor Nguyen Trong Hung (National Institute of Nutrition) recommends that there are currently many products advertised on social networks, so when information is not clearly published, each individual should be a smart consumer, choosing safe products for themselves, their families and especially children.
"In fact, recently, many fake and poor quality products advertised online have been discovered, confiscated and made public for the community to recognize," said Dr. Hung.
Regarding white horse balm, Dr. Hung said that in cases where the product does not have nutritional ingredients listed, is not declared, or is not inspected by a competent authority, even adults will not use it, let alone children.
According to Dr. Hung, children from 6 months of age and older have started to switch to a weaning diet. When weaning, it is necessary to supplement a variety of essential nutrient groups, as well as other micronutrients from foods.
In particular, if it is fresh horse meat, children can use the amount and preparation method appropriate to their age, because they are also a source of protein. As for food supplements, including horse glue, if you do not know the specific ingredients, do not let children use it.
For children under 1 year old, any supplementary food use must be prescribed by a doctor.
If parents use products advertised online, such as horse balm, without permission, they will not know what ingredients are added during production or the content of the ingredients in the product, which is very important.
As advertised online, horsetail provides a lot of calcium for children, but for children to determine if they are calcium deficient, they must be examined and tested thoroughly to have enough evidence.
In case of self-use of calcium-supplemented products from dietary supplements without a doctor's prescription, it can lead to calcium overdose, causing digestive disorders and even the child's excretory function.
"It is best to take your child to the doctor when they have any health or development problems. The doctor will then give specific advice on how to supplement nutrition and micronutrients to avoid side effects on the child," Dr. Hung recommends.
