At noon on December 8, after the meeting at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko enjoyed coffee and visited cultural and historical sites in Hanoi .

The destination of the two leaders was the Hanoi Flag Tower, also known as the Hanoi Ky Dai. This is a special historical relic, closely associated with the history of the capital for over 100 years.

Hanoi Flag Tower is a tower-like structure built at the same time as Hanoi Citadel under the Nguyen Dynasty (started in 1805, completed in 1812), with the function of an observation post inside and outside the citadel.

When destroying Hanoi citadel, the French still kept the North Gate and the Flag Tower. The August Revolution succeeded in 1945, witnessing the first time the Vietnamese national flag - the red flag with a yellow star - flew atop the Flag Tower.

In 1989, Hanoi Flag Tower was recognized as a national historical and cultural relic. Today, this is a place to visit and learn about the history of the capital in particular and the history of the struggle to gain and protect the independence of the Vietnamese people in general.

After visiting the Flag Tower, the two Prime Ministers enjoyed Vietnamese coffee together. In the chilly weather of Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko chose a cup of hot coffee.

The head of the Vietnamese government preferred a hot cup of milk coffee, while the Belarusian prime minister ordered hot black coffee. The two leaders also tried chicken sandwiches and flan, two products available at the store.

Whenever he has the chance, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh often invites foreign leaders to visit Vietnam for coffee. This is his way of promoting and sharing his pride in Vietnamese coffee with international guests.
