Prime Minister visits Vasco da Gama Club of Brazil
According to the Government Newspaper, during the program of attending the expanded BRICS Summit and bilateral activities in the Federal Republic of Brazil, on July 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife visited the Vasco da Gama Club in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The delegation visiting the Brazilian football team with the Prime Minister included Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan... VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan is one of the members of the delegation accompanying the Prime Minister to Brazil this time.
At the football field, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife were presented with Vasco da Gama jerseys by the club's representative, and also presented the club with Hanoi Police Club jerseys. VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan (right cover) accompanied the delegation.

Mr. Luis Fernandes, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Member of the Advisory Committee of Vasco da Gama, accompanied Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife to visit the traditional hall, as well as the Estádio São Januário football stadium, which can accommodate 25,000 spectators. This is the main stadium of Vasco da Gama Club.
At the football field, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife were presented with a Vasco da Gama jersey by the club's representative, and also presented the club with a jersey from the Hanoi Police Club.
After more than 100 years of development (founded in 1898) named after Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama, and originally a rowing club, Vasco da Gama has developed more sports such as basketball, swimming, especially football.
To date, Vasco da Gama has won 65 titles, including 4 Brazilian championships, 1 Brazilian Cup, and more than 20 Carioca titles. In the international arena, Vasco da Gama won the Libertadores da América World Cup, won the South American Club Championship, and was runner-up in the Club World Cup.
Vasco da Gama is home to many world-famous players such as: Roberto Dinamite, Edmundo, Romário, Juninho Pernambucano, Bebeto, Mauro Galvão. Romário helped Brazil win the 1994 World Cup and was one of the best strikers in the world in the 1990s.

According to the Prime Minister, Vasco da Gama is the beloved club of Brazilian President Lula da Silva; and has been, is and will continue to be an indispensable part of the lives of not only the Rio de Janeiro community but also the global fan community. Estádio São Januário Stadium is not only the venue for top football matches but also the venue for many major political and cultural events in Brazil.
The Prime Minister suggested that Brazil and Vasco da Gama Club increase cooperation activities and support Vietnam in developing football.

The Prime Minister said that the philosophy of football is also the philosophy and cultural identity of Brazil and is very close to Vietnamese culture, which is to always attack, fight with all your might, devote all your might, with all your intelligence, sophistication, and passion; fair competition and striving to win are necessary, but not everything; the important thing is to show dedication, enjoyment, and sharing.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that many Brazilian players have joined Vietnamese clubs, helping these clubs compete successfully, with some clubs winning championships.
Noting that Vietnamese people are passionate about football and admire Brazilian football, with its "Samba dance on the field", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the potential for cooperation in culture, sports, especially high-performance sports, including football, between Vietnam and Brazil is limitless.
