At the Hung Vuong High School (HCMC) exam site, after many candidates had started moving to the high school graduation exam site, TTYV, a 12th grade student at a high school in HCMC, was still lingering in front of the school gate even though there were only 30 minutes left until the exam papers were distributed. Speaking to Thanh Nien , V. said that he had forgotten his ID card at home this morning and was waiting for his family to come up and give it to him.
"Yesterday, I also forgot my exam registration form. Learning from experience, I prepared my documents again last night. But after putting them in and out, I ended up forgetting my ID card," the female student said while waiting for her family.
Because he did not have any communication devices with him, V. had to struggle to find a way before being lucky enough to be asked by Ms. Bui Kim Ngoc Thuy (living in District 1), a parent who was taking her child to the exam, to borrow her phone to call her family. "I saw her standing there looking far away and not taking the exam, so I was worried and went to ask. When I heard the news, I immediately lent her my phone," Ms. Thuy shared.
"I see children like my own, also taking the exam today, so if I see a child needs help, I will help. Going to school for 12 years and then being late and not being able to take the exam means their future is ruined," she added.

Witnessing the whole incident, Ms. Luong Thuy Tran (living in Binh Tan District), another parent, continuously reassured V., advising her to go to the exam class first and then ask her family to send her ID card to the security guard. "For example, if they forget, I think they can ask the police or volunteers to help them, they shouldn't be too slow. Parents themselves, when taking their children to the exam, should also make allowance to arrive a little early to avoid any problems if they arise," Ms. Tran shared.
"If you arrive early, you will have time to rest and think. If you are late or forget something, you will be 'dead'," Ms. Tran advised.
Listening to her parents, V. decided to enter the exam room, but after only 5 minutes, she walked back out the gate because she felt uneasy. A short time later, her family quickly showed up and "handed it over" to her. Only then did the female student happily run straight into the exam room.
With today's literature exam, many candidates felt nervous and worried because of the new structure of the exam, including Diep Thanh Nha, a student at Chu Van An Continuing Education Center (District 5). Nha said that after reviewing this year's sample essay, she felt that the social argumentation section was quite "puzzling" because it did not clearly state the requirements of the exam but required students to read the passage and figure it out for themselves.
"I hope today's exam will have clear requirements, especially in the social discussion section so that I can get the high score I want," Nha said, adding that she plans to apply to journalism at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

Meanwhile, as one of the candidates taking the 2006 GeneralEducation Program (old program), Nguyen Hong Hai, a freelance candidate living in Thu Duc City, said he was quite regretful that he was one of the last candidates who still had the "pleasure" of guessing the literature topic to see which text would appear in the literature essay.
"This is a big change in education reform, there is no more pressure to memorize. The new curriculum is completely different, allowing students to expand more and not be constrained," Hai shared.
Hai added that because he chose the old program, he had a hard time finding a test preparation course, because almost no one was still reviewing the old program. "In the end, I couldn't find one, so I decided to study by myself, just asking teachers and friends for guidance," Hai said.
