On the afternoon of October 30, Master Le Phan Quoc, Deputy Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, shared expected information related to the admission method based on the scores of the specialized competency assessment exam organized by the school in 2025.
According to the plan, the results of the specialized competency assessment exam will be one of the school's main admission methods in 2025. However, this admission method has an important change, shifting from a supplementary form in the admission method combining high school academic results to an independent admission method.
Previously, from 2022, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education applied the admission method using high school academic results combined with specialized competency assessment exams. However, from 2025, considering the scores of the specialized competency assessment exam will become a separate admission method, no longer combined with the previous academic transcript scores.
This admission method will lead to important changes in the registration of candidates for exams. Previously, to be admitted using this method, candidates only needed to choose to take at least one subject from the organized exams. The admission score is determined as the total score of the specialized competency assessment test (main subject) multiplied by a factor of 2, plus the score of the remaining 2 subjects in the combination, which is the average score of the subject in 6 semesters in high school. This total score is converted to a 30-point scale and added with priority points for subjects and regions according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, rounded to two decimal places.
But in 2025, candidates need to take at least 2 subjects according to the combination prescribed by the school in each major specifically for this admission method. The expected admission score includes the score of 1 main subject multiplied by a coefficient of 2 plus the score of 1 remaining subject in the combination.
The admission method based on specialized competency assessment exam scores is expected to apply to more than 30 training majors and about 40-50% of the quota depending on the major.
More universities use this exam score for admission
From 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will continue to organize specialized competency assessment exams including the following subjects: math, physics, chemistry, biology, literature and English.
Master Nguyen Ngoc Trung, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that next year's exam results are expected to serve not only the school's admissions but also other universities. Specifically, the exam results are expected to be used for admissions to schools in the pedagogical sector, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, and Nguyen Tat Thanh University. In addition, the school is also working with a number of other schools that train in health sciences on this issue.
Previously, on October 25, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade signed a cooperation agreement to jointly organize specialized competency assessment exams for enrollment from 2025.
Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade prepares the venue for the exam at its campus. Ho Chi Minh City University of Education provides the procedures, techniques and related legal documents to ensure that the exam is organized in accordance with regulations and laws. Both universities will use the exam results for admission purposes.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education announced the sample test for the specialized competency assessment exam to be applied from 2025 with many improvements in the structure of the exams. Of which, 70-80% of the knowledge content is the 12th grade program, the rest is the 10th and 11th grade programs.
