On June 12, the Provincial People's Committee issued Document 1448/QD-UBND approving the pilot project of four-wheeled vehicles with electric engines to transport tourists within a limited area in Bao Ha commune (Bao Yen district) and Tan An commune (Van Ban district).
According to the decision, the unit that prepares and implements the Project is Anh Thu General Trading Company Limited; there will be 20 vehicles participating in the pilot phase in the period of 2024 - 2025. The vehicles will operate on the following routes: National Highway 279, Roads T1, T2, T10, Lien Ha 2 in Bao Ha Commune, Bao Yen District and National Highway 279 in Tan An Commune, Van Ban District (the beginning of the road leading to the IC16 intersection - Bao Ha Bridge). Vehicles in operation must ensure fire and explosion prevention and environmental sanitation. Vehicles participating in the pilot operation are 100% new, with a 2-axle, 4-wheel structure, a maximum design speed of no more than 30 km/h, and a capacity of 8-15 seats (including the driver). The pilot project of 4-wheeled vehicles with electric engines to transport tourists aims to provide transportation services suitable to the needs and characteristics of the transportation system and the travel preferences of tourists; reduce the density of vehicles participating in traffic (motorbike taxis, homemade horse-drawn carriages, large-capacity passenger cars, etc.), limit traffic congestion during peak days; contribute to creating jobs and increasing stable income for workers; gradually build the tourism image of Lao Cai province and Bao Yen and Van Ban districts.
