“NimoTV experienced a sudden and sharp decline. The platform’s viewing hours dropped by 38% compared to Q1. This is the app with the sharpest decline in recent times that we have recorded,” Streams Charts, a global live streaming statistics website, announced in the report.
According to the company, NimoTV's decline in the second quarter stemmed from the loss of their number one streamer, Mixi Gaming (Đo Mixi). Specifically, the number of viewers on the channel decreased from 52 million in the first quarter to 13 million in the last 3 months. Độ Mixi stopped broadcasting on NimoTV in May, so the recorded numbers are only for April.
After losing its key creator, NimoTV lost nearly half of its viewing hours. From 63.4 million hours in April, the app saw only 35.7 million hours (in May) and 27.5 million hours (in June). Compared to a stable level of around 70 million hours per month in the first quarter, NimoTV lost more than half of its users.
The decline in streaming contrasts with the growth of YouTube and TikTok Live. Both apps have maintained steady audience growth, with TikTok accounting for 30% of total global viewing hours. It has seen about 8 billion hours of livestream viewing, compared to YouTube’s 15 billion.

On April 29, Phung Thanh Do (Do Mixi) had his last broadcast on NimoTV, a streaming platform supported by Huya (China). This person had 5 years of cooperation with the app, was a famous creator and contributed the largest number of viewers. In addition, Do Mixi was accompanied by members of Refund Gaming, founded by Mr. Do. The above streamer group also has a large audience.
In addition to causing NimoTV to lose viewers, the Do Mixi group also brought users back to YouTube. Members of Refund Gaming continuously broadcast at many time slots, attracting from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of viewers at the same time.
Previously, this platform was turned away by Do Mixi's fans. In the farewell post of the key streamer, the platform received thousands of offensive comments, declaring to "delete the app".
In 2022, NimoTV’s parent company Huya encountered financial difficulties and had to scale back operations. They closed down in a series of populous markets such as Brazil, Indonesia, and Thailand. After the event, the number of users dropped by more than 70%. From a multinational platform, NimoTV only has a prominent presence in Vietnam. However, the number of users still decreased year by year.
