Japanese golfer wins The Sentry 2025

(Dan Tri) - Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) won The Sentry 2025, the tournament ended on January 6 in the Hawaiian Islands (USA).


The Sentry is the first tournament of the year on the PGA Tour (a prestigious golf tournament system for men, equivalent to the Masters tournament in tennis). As a tournament on the PGA Tour, The Sentry attracts a series of strong golfers from all over the world to participate.

After the final day of competition on the night of January 5 (Vietnam time), Hideki Matsuyama achieved a total score of -35 strokes, winning the championship.

Second place went to former world number two Collin Morikawa (USA), with a total score of -32 strokes. Third place went to Im Sung Jae (South Korea), with a total score of -29 strokes.

Meanwhile, other strong golfers did not have much success at this year's tournament. World number two and 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion Xander Schauffele (USA) had a total score of -17 strokes, only ranked T30 (tied for 30th place).

Former world number one Justin Thomas (USA) scored -19 strokes, ranking T26. Former FedEx Cup play-off champion Patrick Cantlay (USA) scored -21 strokes, ranking T15.

Unfortunately at this year's tournament, world number one, reigning Olympic champion Scottie Scheffler (USA) cannot participate due to injury.
