Speeding up construction to ensure the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway is technically open to traffic on July 10

According to reporters' records on the morning of June 26 on the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway, the construction atmosphere was very urgent, especially at the interchanges. At the National Highway 9 intersection through Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, machinery and workers were mobilized to work overtime to concentrate on constructing the overpass and the two-way access roads to organize traffic flow.

The contractor has completed the basic items of the bridge and is currently focusing on completing the bridge deck, approach roads, etc. The service roads are also being deployed in parallel to complete on time with the main route.

At the intersection of km 740+363 (Cam Thuy commune, Cam Lo district), Tam Hiep overpass is nearly completed. Currently, workers are weaving steel floors to prepare for pouring concrete for the remaining bridge surface area. Meanwhile, the approach roads on both sides of the overpass have been paved with crushed stone, and road rollers are compacting to prepare for asphalt paving.

The main items of the residential access roads have been basically completed. The construction at the National Highway 9D intersection (Ben Quan town, Vinh Linh district) is also taking place very urgently. The construction unit is speeding up the progress of completing the access road to the overpass and the access road and residential access roads.

Meanwhile, the entire main route of the Van Ninh – Cam Lo expressway has been paved. The hard dividers, guardrails, and road signs have been installed. The items of protective fences, painted lines, drainage ditches, and leveling the ground, and the slopes on both sides of the expressway are only a few sections away and are being urgently completed by workers to be ready for technical traffic.

Mr. Tran Phong Nha, representative of the supervision consultant, said that the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway section through Quang Tri province has completed 90% of the main route's workload. Currently, contractors are speeding up construction at 3 interconnecting intersections (National Highway 9 intersection, km740+363 intersection, National Highway 9D intersection).

“At the construction site, there are currently about 300 workers and 200 machines working overtime, mainly on 3 overpasses and the traffic safety system. According to the original plan, the technical opening was on June 30. However, due to the delay, the contractors have accelerated the construction to meet the technical opening on July 10,” said Mr. Nha.

Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway is a component project of the North - South Eastern Expressway Project, phase 2021-2025. The project has a total investment of more than VND 9,900 billion, divided into two packages and invested by the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, starting construction on January 1, 2023. The project has a total length of 65.5 km, connecting the two provinces of Quang Binh (nearly 33 km) and Quang Tri (more than 32 km). The starting point of the expressway is in Van Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province and the end point intersects with National Highway 9, connecting with Cam Lo - La Son expressway (connecting Quang Tri with Hue city).

This project meets the standards of a 4-lane highway, with a roadbed width of 17 m and a design speed of 80 - 90 km/h. Emergency stops are arranged every 4-5 km. There are 4 interchanges on the route, of which 3 are in Quang Tri (intersection of National Highway 9, intersection of km740+363 (at DT75), intersection of National Highway 9D), and 1 is in Quang Binh (intersection of National Highway 9C).

There are 29 bridges on the route, including 16 bridges on the main route, 10 overpasses and 4 bridges at intersections.

With the urgency of the construction units, it is expected that the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway will be technically opened to traffic on July 10.
