The Digital Humanities Experimental Project, including the Braille Music Access project - Braille Music Library for the Blind co-founded by Lam Vu An, a new graduate of the Class of 2025 of Fulbright University Vietnam, is a testament to the fact that young people are constantly innovating their creative thinking, combining technology and digital humanities to contribute to solving the necessary needs of society.

Interdisciplinary thinking to create breakthrough solutions
In the new era of development, Vietnam’s strategic goals such as promoting innovation, building smart cities or achieving net zero emissions by 2050 all require breakthrough, comprehensive and cross-sectoral solutions. For example, the Net Zero target can only be achieved by synchronously integrating solutions on renewable energy, circular economy , green agriculture and environmental technology.
Recognizing this, Fulbright University Vietnam has applied a liberaleducation model combining science and technology since its inception, bringing an American education right in Vietnam and for Vietnam. Students are encouraged to explore multidisciplinary training programs such as Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics - Computers, Science and Engineering before choosing a major and minor through foundational subjects to form creative and systematic thinking. At Fulbright, the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) was built to support students in turning personal initiatives into practical projects by connecting with a network of experienced experts and experimental opportunities in a "learning by doing" environment.
Interdisciplinary education provides young people with a comprehensive knowledge and skills base to adapt to any change.
Applying technology to social science and humanities projects
Lam Vu An is a new graduate with honors in Vietnamese Studies from Fulbright School. Throughout his studies, An has been a passionate student with community-oriented projects. Notably, the Fulbright Digital Humanities Lab (DHLab@Fulbright) - where An is the co-founder and team leader. In this project, An and his teammates, under the guidance of lecturers and experts at the Fulbright Center for Vietnamese Studies, applied interdisciplinary thinking including digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to activities of storing and preserving knowledge in the fields of social sciences and humanities.
One of the successes of the DHLab@Fulbright project is the construction and development of Braille Music Access, which aims to provide opportunities for the visually impaired to access and learn professional music. This is an initiative in a class at Fulbright School by students from different majors (Economics, Computer Science, Psychology, etc.).

"We discussed these ideas in our Vietnam Digital Humanities class, when a blind student pointed out that blind people actually have good sense of touch and hearing. With the desire to help people develop on the path of music or simply enrich their souls, we created a Braille music library," An shared.
In addition, thanks to the opportunity to experience a variety of subjects at Fulbright in the first two years, typically the Basic Computer Science class, An was equipped with programming knowledge and skills - an indispensable requirement in the process of working with his friends on projects, he emphasized.

To date, DHLab@Fulbright, under the auspices of the Center for Vietnamese Studies, has organized many academic activities gathering domestic and foreign experts to study the process of digitizing cultural heritage as well as the journey of preserving and promoting the value of traditional cultural elements through the application of technology.
As a launching pad for future success for young people, Fulbright University Vietnam not only equips students with knowledge but also nurtures interdisciplinary thinking to motivate students to pursue their education and create practical solutions for the community.
