The previous delivery was recorded in April 2025, while in 2024, shipments were reported to have been delivered on April 5, June 17, September 2, October 9, November 25, and December 23. Photo: @19FortyFive.

However, as is often the case with such new announcements, the number of Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bombers in the shipment was not disclosed at all. Photo: @19FortyFive.

The increased production and delivery of the new Sukhoi Su-34 aircraft is of utmost importance, as more than three years after the war in Ukraine, the Russian Aerospace Forces need a stable supply of aircraft to compensate for combat losses and to help increase the operational capabilities of their air force squadrons. The Su-34's exceptionally high weapons loadout has made it a favourite in close-range air combat in the Ukrainian theatre, with the use of precision-guided glide bombs becoming particularly common since early 2023. Photo: @ The National Interest.

Reports from Ukrainian personnel on the front line repeatedly indicate that attacks by Su-34s using precision-guided glide bombs have had devastating consequences. Photo: @ Мілітарний.

In October 2023, the Russian Defense Ministry issued a directive to expand the production of the Su-34, at which time Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu commented on the role of the Su-34 in the Russian Aerospace Forces: "This fighter is the main tool, they perform four or five sorties a day." Therefore, Sergei Shoigu emphasized the need to speed up and accelerate its production. Photo: @ 19FortyFive.

Along with deliveries for domestic use, the appearance of a new desert brown and yellow Su-34 in mid-May 2025 has fueled speculation that the aircraft was first produced for export, most likely to Algeria, but also possibly to another customer with a similar climate such as Iran or Sudan. Although Russia has suffered significant shortages of a number of weapons, from main battle tanks to ballistic missiles and mortars, it has maintained sufficient fighter aircraft production capacity to continue exporting. Photo: @ The National Interest.
