Colonel Hoang Trung Kien, Political Commissar of Division 372, squinted his eyes and looked up at the Su-27s soaring into the blue sky, confiding: “To prepare for safe flights, it is essential that combat readiness training meet high requirements. Therefore, we often take advantage of time to practice many plans, focusing on complex application subjects, preparing pilots to fly in all conditions and situations. We must take advantage of time to practice more plans to conquer the sky!"

It is known that the tasks of SSCĐ, airspace management (QLVT), and flight operations management (QLDHB) of the Division are increasingly demanding, while some types of technical equipment (TBKT) have encountered many difficulties in ensuring supplies and techniques after many years of use; the unusual weather, climate, and natural disasters have somewhat impacted and affected the results of performing the tasks.

Agencies and units regularly attach importance to improving the quality of combat training, focusing on Flight Training - Ensuring Flight Safety; organizing scientific , strict, focused, and key flight training, ensuring sufficient forces to carry out tasks. Focusing on training to improve technical skills in driving, navigation, and combat application; training new pilots and flight students; training teachers, team leaders, and flight commanders; shooting, dropping bombs and live ammunition; parachuting, and airborne landing for the Division's forces and coordinated units; flying to celebrate major holidays of the country, the Army, and the annual Vietnam International Defense Exhibition. Ground training for each specialty, training new soldiers is strict and high-quality. Organizing and participating in competitions and sports events has achieved many high results.

Talking to us, Colonel Tran Tien Tung, Division Commander of Division 372 said: “To meet the requirements of the mission, the Party Committee has thoroughly grasped the resolutions, directives, and orders on military and defense tasks and focused on leading and directing the strict implementation of the discipline and regime of on-duty SSCĐ, QLVT-QLDHB. Agencies and units have developed training plans close to combat reality; thoroughly grasped and implemented the motto "Basic, practical, solid, safe, economical" and closely followed the Division's guiding ideology "Basic, specific, strict, effective, close to combat reality and sure of success"; strictly followed the regulations of flight regulations, combat training curriculum, 3-phase flight organization process and instructions from above. During the training process, teachers and staff applied raising questions and practical issues for the pilots to exchange and discuss, promoting democracy and creative thinking. to thereby improve professional qualifications, skills, and professional techniques...

Strengthening the practice of combat plans; conducting drills with shooting, bombing, and live ammunition to improve the level of training organization and combat coordination of the Division; organizing the transfer of Regiment 929 and Regiment 930 to new positions; adjusting, supplementing, and building a combat document system according to regulations; ensuring good information, meteorology, navigation, and combat construction work for missions; patrolling and guarding to ensure the safety of assigned targets.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Manh Quyen, Political Commissar of Division 372, in order to promote initiative and creativity, improve the capacity of organizing, commanding and managing flights, it is necessary to set high requirements for pilots and service staff. Thanks to the good promotion of collective strength and the initiative and positivity of individuals, the unit regularly maintains enough pilots on combat duty as well as pilots performing maritime reconnaissance flights, storm warning flights, search and rescue flights, etc. In recent years, the rescue and relief missions of Division 372 have always been considered important. The squadrons have organized dozens of relief flights, transporting hundreds of people and dozens of tons of goods, food, and medicine to help people in flood-hit areas.

The lesson that contributed to the success of the 372nd Division over the years was to strictly maintain the discipline of drawing lessons after each flight. Each time the lessons were drawn, the pilots accumulated more useful lessons. In flight training, there were many shining examples of courage, determination, and calm handling of aviation technical failures, ensuring the safety of both people and aircraft.

To promote initiative, creativity, and improve the capacity of organizing, commanding, and managing flights, it is necessary to set high requirements for pilots and service staff. Thanks to the good promotion of collective strength and the initiative and positivity of individuals, the unit regularly maintains enough pilots on combat duty as well as pilots performing missions at sea, fighting small-speed, low-altitude aircraft, flight commanders, flight instructors, training new pilots... Every year, the unit regularly maintains combat duty on all types of aircraft according to the orders of the Commander of the Service.

The sun’s rays still shone down on the runway, burning hot. The soldiers’ shirts were soaked with sweat. Their eyes looked up at the blue sky. Someone exclaimed, the sacred and noble mission of “air soldiers” is to master science and technology, fly up to control the homeland’s sky to preserve a peaceful life for the country. I secretly wished that the sky in the Central region would be less hot so that my comrades would have less hardship and fatigue….
