Exciting series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day in Northeast Thailand

On August 28, many activities took place in Northeast Thailand to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day. Attending were Vietnamese Consul General in Khon Kaen Dinh Hoang Linh, local government leaders, Vietnam - Thailand Friendship Association, Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Association, business representatives, Thai friends and many overseas Vietnamese.

In Udon Thani province, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen coordinated with the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association of Thailand to organize the Vietnam - Northeastern Thailand Goods Fair. The fair attracted nearly 50 booths of Vietnamese and Thai enterprises, introducing many prestigious products such as coffee, footwear, agricultural products, and confectionery.

In his opening speech, Vietnamese Consul General in Khon Kaen Dinh Hoang Linh said that in 2025, the Vietnam-Thailand relationship will be upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening a new chapter in the history of cooperation between the two countries. In particular, trade is a promising bright spot, with the goal of bringing bilateral trade turnover to 25 billion USD. The Northeast region of Thailand with a population of 22 million people, about 100,000 overseas Vietnamese, and a convenient connection location through the East-West Economic Corridor, is a potential market for businesses of the two countries to strengthen supply chain linkages and investment cooperation.

According to Ms. Yuthaphon Somlim, Director of the Udon Thani Department of Commerce, the provincial government is ready to facilitate businesses of the two countries, with tax incentives, logistics infrastructure and investment support services.

Within the framework of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony took place between the Thai - Vietnamese Business Association of Thailand and a number of Vietnamese enterprises.

On the same day, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association and the Thai-Vietnamese Business Association of Thailand to organize the Vietnam-Thailand Business Forum 2025 with the theme "Enhancing Vietnam-Thailand economic cooperation in the new era".

The forum gathered nearly 150 delegates, including diplomatic leaders, partner organizations, businesses and overseas Vietnamese. The presentations focused on green economy, branding, logistics development, innovation and sustainable development strategy. Delegates assessed that Vietnam and Thailand are the two leading economies in the region, playing an important role in promoting Mekong sub-regional cooperation.

Also on August 28, in Khon Kaen, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen coordinated with the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace to open the thematic exhibition "Ho Chi Minh - Symbol of the Era, a bridge of friendship between Vietnam and Thailand". The exhibition displays more than 200 images, documents, and precious artifacts, recreating the journey of President Ho Chi Minh's activities in Thailand (1928-1929), as well as his close relationship with the people and overseas Vietnamese here. According to Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh, President Ho Chi Minh is a great symbol of the era. He sowed the seeds of revolution and aroused the spirit of solidarity, building close ties between the Vietnamese community and the Thai people.

The highlight of the series of activities was the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam National Day solemnly held at the VT Namnueng Convention Center, Udon Thani, with about 800 guests. Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized that Vietnam's 80-year journey is a journey of overcoming challenges to become a dynamic, responsible country and a reliable partner of the international community. He expressed his gratitude to the Thai Government and authorities for always supporting overseas Vietnamese, and believed that the Vietnamese community will continue to be a bridge to promote the friendly relations between the two countries.

Governor of Udon Thani Rachan Sunhua and Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Prachuap Rakphat both highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements over the past 80 years, while emphasizing the role of the Vietnamese community in Thailand as an important bridge between the two peoples.
