Connecting the world through cultural tourism
International cooperation with 16 cities in countries around the world, promoting tourism in key international markets, organizing a series of large-scale cultural, sports and tourism events... is how Da Nang invests in tourism and turns the smokeless industry into the key to connect with the world.

In 2024, 4.1 million international visitors came to the city on the Han River. In the first 5 months of 2025, the number of international visitors reached 2.2 million. The international flight network has also been expanded with 15 regular routes, with a frequency of 52 flights/day.
In the summer of 2025 alone, a series of large-scale events will be held such as the Danang International Marathon, Danang Asian Film Festival, Asian Golf Festival and Golf Tournament, high-class shows at Ba Na Hills or Danang Downtown... In particular, the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2025), with the largest investment ever, has become a magnet attracting visitors to Danang.
During the 1 month of DIFF 2025 (from May 31 to June 30, 2025), accommodation establishments will serve about 1.17 million visitors, an increase of nearly 10.3% over the same period in 2024. Although the final night will not take place until July 12, the overall room occupancy rate in the city is expected to reach 90-95%, with 4-5 star hotels reaching nearly 100% occupancy.

According to Mr. Marcos A. Bednarski - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to Vietnam, international events such as DIFF have contributed to bringing the image of Da Nang city in particular and Vietnam in general to the world.
"Vietnam has long been famous for its unique cultural events, but in my opinion, Da Nang is one of the emerging localities, playing a leading role. I completely agree with the vision of putting culture at the center - because culture is the bridge connecting people around the world," said Mr. Marcos A. Bednarski.
Not stopping there, Da Nang also hopes to make DIFF the backbone of the city's tourism - trade - entertainment event ecosystem. "It will not just be a 'fireworks festival' but a series of long-term festivals, closely connected with other festival activities, promoting the night-time economy, MICE tourism events, street festivals, art performances, shopping spaces, cuisine..." - Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee said.
Danang tourism potential after merger
DIFF and other large-scale events are just a link in the potential tourism and trade ecosystem of Da Nang after the merger.
Currently, Da Nang is the largest city among the 6 centrally-run cities. In terms of tourism alone, Da Nang is facing a great opportunity when it owns many famous tourist destinations and products such as Ba Na Hills tourist area, My Khe beach, Hoi An world heritage, My Son world heritage, Cu Lao Cham world biosphere reserve, etc.

Almost all types of tourism are concentrated in Da Nang, from eco-tourism, heritage tourism, high-end entertainment tourism, cultural-sports tourism, MICE tourism to luxury resort tourism. In terms of accommodation services alone, Da Nang leads the country with about 80,000 rooms, of which the rate of 5-star rooms is the highest in Vietnam.
According to analysis by The Outbox Company - a data analysis company for the Asian tourism and travel industry, the number of international visitors staying in Da Nang City after the merger could reach 6.1 million visitors each year, surpassing Ho Chi Minh City - which welcomed about 6 million international visitors in 2024.

In particular, international festivals and events, notably DIFF, are not only a big "boost" for tourism development, but in the future, DIFF will be invested in to be associated with the development of a free trade zone in Da Nang. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, in the next 5 years, DIFF will be invested in on a larger scale to become a new growth engine for the night-time economy, tourism and the city's brand, in line with the vision of developing Da Nang in the direction of green - smart - modern, positioning the city's cultural brand on the regional and international map.
Not only expanding the scale and tourism potential, Da Nang is facing a new opportunity with economic zones expanded from large industrial parks such as Dien Nam - Dien Ngoc, Chu Lai...; Da Nang Free Trade Zone with functional areas of production, logistics, trade and services, digital technology industry, information technology or innovation... All of these not only make Da Nang an important link in the global supply chain network and the Asia-Pacific region, but also converge the core elements of a global city, a world destination.
