Son Vi Commune was established on the basis of merging three communes: Thuong Phung, Xin Cai and Son Vi, with a total area of over 110 km² and a population of over 3,300 households. Of which, the poverty rate is still high, accounting for nearly 50%. The area has 20 border villages with a border length of nearly 42 km.
After the merger, the two-level local government apparatus has been consolidated and operates stably. Citizen reception is carried out in accordance with regulations, ensuring smooth operation. However, the new model still has some difficulties such as lack of human resources, unsynchronized technology infrastructure, administrative software systems sometimes have errors and facilities have not been centrally planned.

At the meeting, Son Vi commune proposed that the province and the central government should soon organize specialized training courses in each field, and at the same time consider upgrading the road from the commune center to Sam Pun border gate to serve the economic development of the border gate. In addition, it proposed to soon allocate funds so that the new commune after the merger can stabilize its apparatus and serve the people.
Through the actual inspection and work, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Van Son emphasized that the inspection trip was not only to correctly assess the actual situation of operations at the grassroots level but also an opportunity to listen and remove obstacles, helping border localities such as Son Vi commune to take firmer steps in the process of innovation and development.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Van Son affirmed that the initial results achieved in implementing the two-level local government model in Son Vi commune are very remarkable. Thereby, creating trust and high appreciation in public opinion about the image of a government close to the people, by the people, and for the people.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Van Son suggested that, first of all, the key staff of Son Vi commune must change their thinking in leadership, direction, and implementation of tasks; continue to focus on perfecting the organizational structure and operating plan; increase the application of technology and digital transformation to meet the requirements in the new historical period to better serve the people; carefully review the indicators to find solutions to complete. Along with that, it is necessary to ensure maintaining national defense and security, not to be passive and surprised in any situation.
