Mu Cang Chai terraced fields in the flooding season are as beautiful as a painting.

These days, the first rains of the season are pouring water all over the terraced fields in Mu Cang Chai. The water gradually spreads along each step of the field, reflecting the sunlight, creating a sparkling natural picture in the middle of the Northwest mountains and forests.

Seen from above, the terraced fields in the flooding season appear like a vivid mosaic with interwoven color patches, some with shimmering water like a mirror, some with moist brown soil, and some with young green rice. The blend of sky, soil, and tree colors creates an alluring beauty that leaves visitors in awe.

Water seeps into each field, creating distinct contrasts: some areas are dry and cracked, others are shimmering with water, the soil seems to revive, full of vitality.

This is also the time when farmers are busy going to the fields, taking advantage of every sunny day to sow young rice seedlings, covering the terraced fields with green, opening the main rice crop of the year.

Mr. Ho A De - a tour guide in Mu Cang Chai said that from now until the end of the flooding season, the terraced fields change their appearance every day. Water flows down, covering each terraced field, sparkling in the sun like silver. When people start planting, the fields gradually turn to the cool green of young rice. Visitors coming here not only admire the majestic natural scenery, but also have the opportunity to experience rice planting with the locals, participate in cultural activities, and light a campfire in the middle of the village.

In 2007, terraced fields in three communes of La Pan Tan, De Xu Phinh and Che Cu Nha (Mu Cang Chai district) were recognized as National Scenic Spots. By 2020, this scenic spot continued to be ranked as a Special National Monument. Not only famous domestically, Mu Cang Chai was also voted as one of the 10 most beautiful terraced fields in the world.
