Learn from Uncle Ho through practical actions

In the unit yard in the late afternoon, when the whistle blew to end the training day, the young soldiers of Regiment 8 gathered at the "Study Corner Following Uncle Ho's Example" - a place to record famous sayings and simple stories about the life, ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh . Some people took the time to read, others attentively wrote in their notebooks. It seemed that learning from Uncle Ho's moral example had become a habit, spreading every day.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Toi, Political Commissar of Regiment 8, said: “We have determined that studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style is a continuous process, starting from the smallest things: words, actions, conduct, sense of responsibility in each task. When cadres are exemplary, soldiers will follow. When studying Uncle Ho becomes a regular way of thinking and doing, the effectiveness of unit building will change significantly.”

Regiment 8 organized a visit to the Traditional House for non-commissioned officers and soldiers to foster pride and glorious traditions of the unit.

From that spirit, the Regiment has concretized learning and following Uncle Ho into many creative models, linked to practice such as: "Uncle Ho's study hours during the week", "Uncle Ho's teachings every day", "Learning corner following Uncle Ho's example at the company", "Self-reflection and self-correction groups in the Party cell"... Each model is a way for officers and soldiers to look back at themselves, adjust their behavior, and improve their sense of responsibility.

What is special about Regiment 8 is that the spirit of “learning to do” is put first. Without stereotypes or formalities, the units always organize thematic activities “following Uncle Ho” associated with specific tasks: Training, combat readiness, increasing production, field trips, helping people overcome the consequences of natural disasters... From theoretical study to practical action, there has been a clear change in awareness, attitude and quality of work.

Youth discussion with the theme: "Youth of Regiment 8: Courageous, self-conscious, strict, exemplary, determined to win".

Not only stopping at propaganda, the Regiment always focuses on building a team of exemplary cadres, who practice what they preach. In battalions and companies, it is not difficult to see images of cadres eating, living, working and training with soldiers.

Captain Pham Hoai Nam, Political Commissar of Company 16, Regiment 8, shared: For young soldiers, if an officer lacks exemplary behavior, he will immediately lose prestige. Therefore, every day, I ask myself: What have I done today for the soldiers to follow?

From the exemplary role of cadres, many models and initiatives in implementing Directive 05 have been widely replicated such as: "Young cadres following Uncle Ho", "Youth Union with no soldiers violating discipline", "Three-no company": No violation of discipline, no insecurity, no prolonged weakness... Thereby, gradually forming a positive, proactive, and responsible lifestyle and thinking in the entire unit.

In addition, Regiment 8 is also a typical unit in the emulation movement of good training, strict discipline, and high combat readiness. Thanks to the implementation of Directive 05 with professional tasks, the unit always maintains good results, in which: 100% of training content meets requirements, more than 85% are good and excellent; organizing live-fire training with absolute safety.

Regiment 8 always pays attention to doing a good job of showing gratitude through practical and meaningful actions.

Over the years, the Regiment has had many technical initiatives that have been effectively applied to training and life, including the tactical training model framework system and self-learning command software. The initiatives all originate from practice and the spirit of "doing small things with great heart", contributing to improving the quality of training, saving costs, and promoting the unit's internal strength.

From self-training to the desire to contribute

The movement of “studying and following Uncle Ho” in Regiment 8 not only helps soldiers train themselves but also kindles in them the desire to contribute and the spirit of serving the people. Each officer and soldier clearly understands: The most practical action to follow Uncle Ho is to be devoted and responsible to the task, attached to the people, and live honestly and loyally with comrades and teammates.

Over the years, the Regiment has organized many field trips combined with mass mobilization work in the area. Through this, officers and soldiers in the unit have participated in helping people build roads, repair houses, clean schools, and visit families with meritorious services. Hundreds of working days and many gifts worth tens of millions of VND have been given - all voluntarily contributed by officers and soldiers.

Private Tran Hai Huy, a soldier of Platoon 5, Company 2 (Battalion 4, Regiment 8) confided: “Through the activities, through daily work, through the propaganda of commanders at all levels, I see that I have learned from Uncle Ho simplicity and responsibility. I feel proud to contribute a small part of my strength to help people through field trips combined with mass mobilization work.”

It is not only an action, but also a transformation in awareness, a sign of true maturity in the ideology and political capacity of today's young soldiers. The emulation spirit of "following Uncle Ho" has become a self-conscious, self-managed emulation movement, without imposition or formality.

Closing a working day and training at Regiment 8, the lights in the activity room were still on. A group of young soldiers were discussing the story of “Uncle Ho and the Dien Bien soldiers”. Without anyone reminding them, they came to Uncle Ho with sincere feelings and deep faith. From these simple things, Regiment 8 is contributing to building the image of a steadfast, responsible, exemplary revolutionary soldier, contributing to the successful completion of all tasks.
