At the same time, Vietnam Electricity Group also requires power companies to promptly provide information and clearly explain to customers; clearly propagate how to calculate bills for June 2025; changes in issuing bills, managing contracts and collecting electricity bills of power companies before and after the merger; provide information on solutions to monitor daily/monthly electricity indexes via Customer Service App/Web and instructions on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity...
Regarding the responsibility of handling information, Vietnam Electricity Group assigns the leaders of the power corporation and the directors of the power companies to directly direct and discuss with customers or assign staff with sufficient knowledge and skills to answer customer complaints when receiving feedback on unusually increased bills. Directors of power companies are responsible for the results of resolving customer complaints.
According to the Northern Power Corporation, in June 2025, the commercial electricity output in 27 northern provinces and cities (excluding Hanoi ) reached 9.85 billion kWh (the highest level among the distribution corporations under the Group). The prolonged hot weather, combined with students entering the summer vacation, caused the demand for household electricity in the North to increase sharply in June. In addition, the fact that Vietnam Electricity Group increased the retail electricity price to VND 2,204.06/kWh (excluding VAT), equivalent to an increase of 4.8%, applied from May 10, 2025, was also the reason for the sudden increase in electricity bills compared to the previous month.
In the context of prolonged hot weather, Vietnam Electricity Group hopes to continue to receive the sharing and active cooperation of people and electricity customers through thoroughly using electricity economically, especially during peak hours at noon (from 11:00 to 15:00) and in the evening (from 19:00 to 23:00). In particular, pay special attention to the reasonable use of air conditioning, only turn on the air conditioner when really necessary, set the temperature at 26-27 degrees or higher, combine with fans, take advantage of natural daylight, turn off electrical appliances when not in use. In fact, the electricity consumption of air conditioning can account for 28-64%, even up to 80% of the total electricity consumption of a household, depending on the frequency and conditions of use.
