“Red Rain” is a feature film about revolutionary war with a script by writer Chu Lai.
The film was inspired and fictionalized by the 81 days and nights our army and people fought bravely to defend Quang Tri Citadel in 1972.
Those eighty-one days and nights have gone down in the glorious history of the nation, as a testament to the Vietnamese people's aspiration for independence, freedom, and national unification in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

That fierce but tragic story has been recreated through cinema, with realistic footage, shining with heroic spirit in the movie "Red Rain" produced by the People's Army Cinema.
Speaking at the opening of the showcase, Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department - General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, praised the efforts of the People's Army Cinema in developing the project and organizing the film production over the past three years; highly appreciated the quality of the film and expressed his belief that the film will be warmly received by the people and will be a highlight in the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2.
Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy emphasized: “Today, Military Cinema continues to be the bridge between the past, present and future so that those epic songs can live on in the hearts of today's and future generations. 'Red Rain' is not only a work of art but also a stick of incense, a deep gratitude of artists to history and to the soldiers who heroically sacrificed for the Fatherland during 81 days and nights of fire at Quang Tri Citadel”.

Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy also affirmed that the Propaganda Department appreciates the dedication, talent, and responsibility of the artists, directors, screenwriters, and producers who have spent a lot of time and effort to recreate historical stories in cinematic language and believes that the film will not only be a milestone in the revolutionary war film genre but also strongly arouse national pride, life ideals, patriotism, and the desire to contribute to today's generation in the work of propagating and educating revolutionary traditions.
Director Dang Thai Huyen, who made the film, shared: “On behalf of the crew of the film “Red Rain”, I would like to express my sincere and heartfelt thanks to Major General Nguyen Xuan Thuy - Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department - General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, the audience inside and outside the army, and the press agencies. Hopefully, when 'Red Rain' is released in the near future, it will also receive the same love, acceptance, and encouragement as it has today”.
At the showcase event, the organizers introduced to guests the "Red Rain" Sand Table model - a place that recreates the battlefield space of Quang Tri Citadel in 1972 with a scale of 1:72.
Through the model, the audience can clearly visualize the terrain and strategic location, and also feel the fierceness, urgency and survival of each battle during 81 days and nights. Delegates and guests also have the opportunity to take souvenir photos at the area recreating the scene of the Ancient Citadel in 1972.

The film premiere was also attended by veterans who fought at Quang Tri Citadel in 1972, such as veteran Nguyen Van Hoi - Head of the Liaison Committee of Battalion K3 Tam Dao, Colonel Dao Van Phe - Deputy Head of the Committee and Major Hero of the People's Armed Forces Tran Trong Can.
The film is expected to be shown in theaters nationwide on August 22.
